Everything from the reception to the rooms, restaurants was absolutely amazing. Room with a jacuzzi is the best option and I've never slept on a comfier bed before ! Friendly and helpful staff made the stay even better.

Right from arrival at the gates the staff knew our names, nothing was too much trouble, they aknowledged our special occision, Prosecco on arrival and a full tour of the hotel before being shown to our room . Hottub was absolutely perfect for us to relax in the storm!

The staff was great, very helpful and polite. The spa was not very big but very nice, with a decent size swimming-pool, steam room, jacuzzi, and access to the pub.

The spa/jacuzzi type bath was a godsend and relieved many aching muscles and bones. The breakfast was diverse with choices to suit any palet or need. We were offered the room with the high bed which for me was a bit too high and the staff quickly found a more suitable room with very comfortable bed.

Moss Grove is ideally situated in the centre of Grasmere and very handy for local restaurants. The room was a really good size with a very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and separate shower too. Tea and coffee making facilities are in each room with an excellent variety of teas to choose from. We would certainly recommend to other travellers.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room very nice and clean. Balcony with view out across the village (only 2 rooms have one). Hotel does have a small free car park and is located in the village centre so not far to walk anywhere to local shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Breakfast is buffet style with a varied selection so you have to serve yourself. The 'cooked' food was scrambled eggs, sausages mushrooms and tomatoes (so a bit minimal IMO) but the Cumberland sausages were fantastic!!

The room we had was beautiful, really comfortable beds and an absolutely superb bathroom TV over the bath, twin sinks and a wonderful large walk in shower. The breakfast was delicious, we ate in the bistro one night and my husband had the liver which he said was perfect, Im a veggi and the risotto was light and tasty. The restaurant has lovely views of the lake and the food is delicious There is a lovely walk around the grounds and the location is perfect for Bowness and Windermere

Beautiful setting right next to Lake Windemere. The views were amazing over the lake from the lounge, then also our room and again at breakfast from the dining room. The bar was cosy with an open fire and helpful staff. The hotel was clean and welcoming and staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Already recommend to family and friends. We will be returning in the future.

Superbly attentive, helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful old mansion, elegantly restored and decorated. Direct access from the landscaped gardens to the lake, with views to die for. Fabulous food - at both breakfast and dinner. Waiter service was speedy, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. The dining room conservatory, with superb lake views. There being no Spa…nobody was wafting round in dressing gowns and slippers!!

Breakfast was a good selection ? Service was amazing and the cleanliness was perfect, the staff were really accommodating for whatever we needed even booked us for a couple massage in our room which was amazing our room was so clean I was very impressed the whole environment was so relaxing and the lake view was out of this world thank you

Perfect location on the edge of Ambleside. The staff were all exceptional. There is a large car park one minute walk from the main reception area, but you can drop off bags and turn right outside. We stayed in the main building because we wanted a proper balcony and we had the largest one. Two sets of double doors opened into the balcony and a lovely view of the quite large garden, which had some nice plants and trees. (In the separate, more modern, building the upstairs rooms have Juliette balconies and the ground floor rooms have dog friendly’ outside areas.) Our bathroom had a bath that filled very quickly and a large, free-standing shower (rainfall and hand-held) with excellent water pressure. Beautiful ‘Bath House’ toiletries were provided. The bed in our room was very big - a super king I think. The sheets were lovely. The restaurant’s ambience was perfect and the food was sublime. YOU MUST GO! The high quality extended to breakfast too.

Our stay at Rothay Manor was perfect. Staff were welcoming and helpful and made us feel right at home, The room was nicely furbished. Bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The shower was excellent, lots of flow and great temperature control. Nice fluffy generous towels and soap / shower gel. We also ate at the restaurant. Food, ambience and staff were all excellent. Slept comfortably and peacefully. We were also able to park at an EV charger parking spot and recharge the car overnight at a very reasonable rate for a public charger. Breakfast the next morning was great. Just perfect all round.

Our superior room was stunning. (first room at the top of the stairs - forget the name.) It had some fantastic wallpaper. Amazing large bathroom, large walk in shower and free standing bath. Large balcony overlooking the gardens. £5 option to have breakfast on the balcony table. Hotel happy to organise flowers for arrival. 6 x 22kW (11kW usable in my EV) 3-phase EV chargers. Reasonable £0.40/kWh charge. Food in the restaurant was excellent and very foodie - you wouldn't however want to eat there more than once though as there is limited options/limited set menu and it's £65+ per head for min 3 courses. The cheese trolly was special. Very clean and comfy king size bed.

The interior design is beautiful and the garden terrace is lovely. We loved the room in the new pavillon, absolutely beautiful and comfortable! 10 out 10. The receptionists are welcoming, convenient and very friendly. The location is perfect near the river, the lake and Ambleside city center. The breakfast was really good and we loved the personal touches.

Loved this hotel, can’t fault it. We had a superior room in the new wing, nice and spacious and bathroom was fab. We made good use of the pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. The gym is a little tired but machines are useable. The grounds are nice for sitting outside in good weather and there’s a cute little model village on site which is a nice little extra (tokens at reception). Breakfast was pretty good. Staff in bar/restaurant were all really lovely and even though they were obviously exceptionally busy over bank holiday weekend everything ran really smoothly.

It may be a 3 star hotel but service is 5 star - incredibly helpful and friendly staff and impeccably clean everywhere. It's a lovely quiet spot too - looking out onto the gardens and surrounding rural area from the bar and restaurant is really nice. The only things letting it down are the older decor in the rooms (although the bed was very comfy with lovely bedding) and the fact that the walls are very thin (I could hear neighbours talking and TVs, and bathroom usage), plus I had a basin that wouldn't drain and a weak shower, but this is why it's classed as 3 star I suppose. The other let down was the dinner food which was a bit odd and overpriced with strange, over-elaborate menu choices, although I had a couple of great starters. Breakfast was better but I would still have preferred more simple choices - the Sunday buffet was best as I could have any combination of cooked breakfast I wanted. But these are small concerns when overall it's great value for money and has a lovely vibe. And I didn't get to try the spa and gym facilities - next time!

The breakfast delivery was also a great plus for our stay. All staff were helpful and cheerful and ensured our every need were catered for. Thankyou to them especially!

When booking the hotel, I wanted to make a few add on requests as this was a romantic get away and also partners birthday surprise I contacted the hotel and to add a few things to the room and I can pay on arrival the staff we're very polite and friendly which made our stay more likeable the room and out door jacuzzi was amazing everything was perfect.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. The staff here really go out of their way to make you feel special. Special mention to the concierge who showed us round the hotel who made us chuckle with his witty comments and the lady on reception who checked us in with a glass of Prosecco . The man who greets you in the car park was lovely, and guided us to a parking spot. He even knew our name! We had a reservation at the hotel restaurant, Mizumi as it was my husband’s birthday. The food was excellent I would definitely recommend it . The decor is outstanding . The spa is great for a few hours of relaxation . Nothing better than drinking a G&T in a jacuzzi. Thankyou, for a wonderful stay we will definitely return.

An excellent hotel, the room was amazing, and we got upgraded to a larger room when the hotel heard it was our anniversary! Very clean and comfortable, and the hot tub on the balcony was a must have The spa facilities were fantastic, and the cocktail bar was lovely for food and sitting outside with a view The hotel was very close to bowness town centre and the lakshore, with a myriad of restaurants and bars to choose from! Wpuld really recomend porto for a date night, followed by cocktails in the hotel bar, which can be taken up to the room hot tub in a pastic cup

Loved our two night stay at Lakes Hotel and Spa. We opted for the small double with hot tub and it was a sizeable, clean and gorgeous room with a view to the front, very impressed! Location is perfect; a 5 min walk to the windermere centre with shops, cafes and restaurants. We walked to the marina (10mins) which is the opposite direction and would recommend a meal at the marina restuaurant. The hotel has a lovely cocktail terrace, restuarant, pub and oriental resturant. Breakfast in the main restaurant was lovely and we had dinner in the pub which was great. We made use of the spa facilities which were great too Thank you!

The Tivoli was amazing, the room with the hot tub and jacuzzi Bath was like having your own personal 5 star spa with lovely lighting/candles and stylish decor. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Met the owners just as we were leaving and again, very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely stay again, a lovely break from the kids 👍

Absolutely loved this hotel, the welcoming Prosecco was a nice touch. Free parking, breakfast delivered to your room for a small fee and worth it in my opinion. Sweetheart Room (Cottage) was amazing. Well proportioned, cozy flame effect fire and wonderful Spa Bathroom. We chickened out and didn't use the outdoor Jacuzzi, it was too windy and raining heavily. Would definitely recommend for a treat.

We were very pleasantly surprised on arriving at the Boutique Hotel. We were warmly greeted with a glass of Prosecco. Our suite was so much better than we had expected. In addition to the bedroom there was a room with a table for meals, a bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and a Sauna. Our suite did not have a 'hot tub', which the other suites had, but that did not concern us.The Breakfast menu was excellent and food was cooked to order. Dinner was available but had to be ordered by 5.30pm. We ate out at local restaurants on both nights - restaurants that had been recommended by the staff at the hotel

Warm welcome at the reception, nice clean room. All the staff were pleasant and very helpful, good breakfast (buffet style), and evening meal on second night was good too. Nice pool and jacuzzi, the sauna didn't appear to be in use. Booked with the Winter offer I received from the hotel group.

One of the best dog friendly rooms we've ever had....four poster bed, jacuzzi bath and Lake view. Cosy atmosphere, friendly & obliging staff & great food. Good location for exploring this area. Would recommend & would definitely revisit.

Perfect spot for a base for a couple of days whilst touring the area. Had the benefit of an upgrade upon arrival toa 4 poster and jacuzzi bath which was most appreciated, and couldn't fault the decor or cleaning. Felt good to be able to open a window too as you can't always in some hotels. Had a lovely cooked breakfast and staff were pleasant enough. Didn't use the bar area or lounge so can't comment on that. The hotel is between Bowness and Windermere so ideal for walking to either or direct access to explore the south lakes area. Quite happy to stay again on another visit.

Friendly staff and the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the breakfast aas delicious and prepared fresh. Only a few things they can improve on- The shower wasn't that powerful, the head didnt really acheive must power or water where it was needed, not adjustable. The bar only offered bottled beer and lacked atmosphere, their missing out on not having the guests relax in the lounge area, a social club a couple of minutes walk was freindly.

The property has free parking and is roughly half way between windermere and bowness so convenient for both, the rooms are spacious clean and well maintained and the breakfast service is excellent, also the staff are all friendly and helpful.

We stayed for two nights, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice with everything that you could need, great tea tray, lovely toiletries etc. very comfortable bed, good lighting and a nice hot shower. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Plenty of parking too and in a great location for walking to both Bowness and Windermere. We would definitely stay here again. The only negative issue was a thoughtless guest on our final night who played the TV very loudly and had no regard for other guests.

Friendly receptionist when booming in. Ensured we had l we needed and showed how tl connect to free wifi. Room was modern and well decorated. Ample tea and coffee etc and welcoming biscuits and 2 chocolates next to decoration made from towels. Exclent breakfast choices and the pancakes with fruit were a big favourite. Hotel is situated within a short walk of Windermere village and bus stops close by. Recommend daily bus pass. Great way to get around and avoid parking fees

Check in as easy. The room was a very good size. The bathroom was amazing with a very deep and well functioning jacuzzi where I had a very relaxing morning soak. The lunch and dinner were very good.

Our stay on our wedding night at Holbeck Ghyll was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we arrived the hotel and the views took our breath away, the reception staff were very helpful, friendly and kind and our room was beautiful, it was stately yet modern, it was fresh and clean, everything from the furniture, to flooring, the decor and the technology was very high quality. We had the tasting menu for dinner which was such an experience, exquisite taste explosions in the mouth so hats off to the chef, our waiter did a fantastic job, he was friendly and lovely and explained every dish that came out, we chatted to the manager at the bar who also was a great guy, he makes absolutely amazing cocktails ! Breakfast again did not disappoint, we was served by another brilliant and friendly waiter who brought us a tasty selection of light breakfast dishes finishing with a really nice full english. This hotel exceeded our expectations and made our wedding day even more perfect. Thank you to all at Holbeck Ghyll, we will be back next year to celebrate our 1st anniversary !

Wanted a relaxing and peaceful long weekend break, so we booked a 3 night stay at Holbeck Ghyll. What an amazing hotel with wonderful views. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We were lucky to stay in one of the Lodges where the views were breathtaking, the room and bathroom was larger than a normal sized room and all were exceptionally clean and comfortable. A big shout out to Ian for his amazing sense of humour and for looking after us at breakfast. We had such a laugh, whilst he remained professional and polite at all times. An absolute gent who is a credit to the hotel.

Lovely location overlooking the lake . Unfortunately it was a wet and foggy day so didn’t see much! The hotel is an old fashioned property, the bedroom was airy and very large having views over garden and lake . Very quiet and good obscurity due to heavy, thick curtains. Cosy and large bed with 4 posts but no drapes .. Bathroom was spacious with a bath and shower room and ample towels . Tea/ coffee / biscuits plus water provided. The customer service provided by Tom and his other colleague was exceptional . Very tasty breakfast with fresh ingredients . The other rooms ( dining room, living room ) were inviting and relaxing . Nice atmosphere/ ambiance .

We absolutely LOVED our stay! Our group of 6 friends got three rooms all right next to each other with access to the same large terrace - so it was truly perfect. We loved how charming the building and decor was, the STUNNING views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding mountains and sheep pastures, and the friendly manager, Tom, who did his best to make sure we were super comfortable during our stay. We even got a dog friendly room for our furry companion, which was very appreciated. Rooms were super spacious, clean, and comfy, and breakfast was 10/10! Location is great if you have a car - nearby to the town, waterfront, and just a quick drive away from countless hikes. We were so sad to leave and will all definitly be back for a longer stay in the future.

Amazing place, it is really incredible what they have done with the place. Supercomfortable, excellen kitchen, very comfortable bed, out of this world bathroom with jacuzzi, and a sauna for good measure. Fantastic breakfast as well. Nothing short of amazing!

The suite was spotlessly clean, very spacious, well equipped and had a sauna and jacuzzi! Eclectic interior design done very well by the owner who was very helpful. The included breakfast cooked with obvious care was excellent.

Hidden gem! So close to town centre and walking distance from all the beautiful places Grasmere has to offer, but away from main road, just so you can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. It also has access to the lake from the back yard, which is a bonus. Garden is lovely and it has plenty of wildlife to admire (a family of badgers, little bats circling in the evenings, to the delight of my son and niece). Rooms were comfy and spacious and very clean! It takes a lot for me to rate high in cleaning as I am quite obsessed with it, but everything was spotless. It is also dog friendly, which makes even more challenging cleaning wise. However everything is made to make your stay with your little furry friend relaxing and enjoyable (dog treats, easy to clean surfaces, extra blankets to cover beds or just to create a comfy little corner for your dog). And all of it at no extra charges, a very decent policy in place. Hosts was brilliant, very welcoming and always ready to help. There is also a 10% discount at Good Sports pub down the road, a fantastic place to eat, staff very helpful and delicious food and drinks. We were there for a a fee days for a family gathering, various ages, from 6yo children to senior grandad and we all had a wonderful time and would love to come back very soon!

Fantastic location, a quiet and very comfortable retreat just moments from the center of Grasmere. Our room, The Cottage, was perfect for a family of 5 plus dog. Really spacious, very comfortable beds (proper beds for all of us) and very clean. It was a bonus to have a small kitchen area enabling us to make our own breakfast. The complementary tea and coffee were delicious and the bathroom products smelt amazing. The owner was so helpful in helping me find day care for my dog whilst we did the via ferrata - it was our genuine pleasure to meet them both. Lovely meal at the Good Sport. The garden was beautiful and a great space to relax. We will definitely book again and would recommend the Lake View Country House to everyone.

We had a fantastic stay at Lake View, it was a great location. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, making for a truly relaxing experience. The breakfast was really nice, served across the way at a distillery. One of the standout aspects was how pet-friendly the guest house was—welcoming without any lingering pet smells, which was greatly appreciated.! They ensured there were nice touches (dog biscuits, a kettle in the conservatory, umbrellas and picnic blankets to borrow. The staff were warm, accommodating, and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. I highly recommend Lake View for anyone looking for a cozy and welcoming place to stay!

Stayed here with my husband and two dogs for our anniversary, we stopped in the Garden suite which was clean, modern, spacious and very comfortable. It's not very often you get a king size bed when stopping away so that was a pleasant surprise. The area is quiet and the garden is lovely and peaceful, it's a close walk down to the lake using a private footpath for the dogs to have a paddle. Brilliant location for exploring the local area and we didn't have to use the car all week which was a bonus. The breakfast at The Good sport was of good quality, the morning and evening staff there are friendly. Will definitely be stopping here again in the future.

10/10. This is one of the best, if not the best, places we stayed in the UK. Owners and staff are very friendly, we arrived little earlier than expected and we're allowed to check in early. This is a boutique hotel in very quiet location just a minut walk from the main road thorough the village and few minutes from the lake. Our room, Treetop, was the only one available at the time of booking and was exceptionally good. Nice decent size, very clean and beautifully decorated with exposed timber and bricks. Lovely large bathroom, comfy large bed, selection of coffees, teas and even hot chocolate. The place is dog friendly and do not charge extra for their stay which is absolutely brilliant. Prices are very reasonable and we got 10% discount at their sister business, Good Sport Bar, which is couple of minutes walk from the house and serves great food and nice selection of drinks. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. I truly recommend Lake View Country House.

Excellent First Class Guest House Neil and Beverley were very welcoming and great at accommodating us. Breakfasts were top notch and also the location was great as well in Windermere. Room was a nice size but next time we might request a bigger room but no complaints as had a lovely walk in shower and nice tea facilities. The Choices Spa was really good and had a really fantastic modern Swimming Pool, Sauna,Jacuzzi and Steam Room which was a great bonus. Overall had a fantastic time in Lake District and would thoroughly recommend The Coppice for a great stay

Ideally situated with a 5 minute walk into Windermere and 10 minutes to Bowness. Neil & Beverley were wonderful hosts and breakfasts were delicious. We stayed in room 5 which has a jacuzzi bath along with a shower and this was wonderful after a long day hiking in the hills. Would highly recommend and would be more than happy to stay here again.

Honestly, everything was perfect! Bev was so welcoming and informative when we arrived. She let us know about any events or live acts that were happening at the local pubs and what restaurants there were nearby. We let her know what our plans were during our stay, and she helped with travelling info, bus times, etc.The room was perfect and cosy. And sooo comfy. And the fact you had a lil glass sherry waiting for you. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and it was nice to know you had various options to choose from. The location of the hotel is very convenient, not too far from the train station and Lake windermere. The atmosphere in the hotel just felt very homely, safe, and trusting. We had a fantastic stay and would happily recommend 100%. We do hope to come back in the future. The lake district is such a beautiful place 😍

We stayed at the cottage house which is outside the main building. It was very spacious and has an indoor jacuzzi tub which is why we booked it. The hot water is pre-heated, so it was just enough to fill the tub. There won’t be hot water after if you wanted a shower. Also, an important downside for us was the wifi signal is so weak that neither our phone nor laptops could pick any signal. Was a bit disappointed in that regard as the hotel is aware of the problem but made no effort to fix it. Close proximity to shops and the lake though!

Beautiful modern guest house, amazing to see the use and promotion of local business and products - shower gels are amazing and I’ve just put an order in to purchase them! Fantastic location, wonderful Thai not far away (Jinita) spotlessly clean, fresh and very welcoming - we will be returning!

We loved everything about the property. The location is perfect just a short walk to the lake with plenty of bars and restaurant’s to enjoy. The room was spacious,clean and very comfortable and without doubt great value for money. The fridge in the room was a lovely touch and added bonus. We liked the key code access as this is so easy to use and ensures hassle free key carrying. We’ve stayed in many different types of accommodation across various areas of the lakes and this is up there with one of the best. We will definitely return to Latimer House.

The hotel location in Windermere is within 5 minutes walking of the town centre and 30 minute walk from Bowness. The hotel is next to the main road through Windermere but is really quiet and peaceful. The hotel is a family run business and this is impressed upon you particularly at breakfast or dinner when you meet the staff and realise what a warm and welcoming hotel it is. The food itself is excellent and I would recommend having dinner in the hotel at least once as the quality and value of the food and wine was excellent. After a days walking the ability to retire to the lounge for a drink and then collapse into your bedroom is all you could ask for. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Where to start with Cedar Manor. Things got off to a good start when we arrived and parked on the well maintained drive with a well tended garden. Jonathan showed us to our room which was small but perfectly formed. The little touches such as chocolates and gluten free biscuits were much appreciated. We then enjoyed an afternoon tea in the lounge which was cosy and intimate. The afternoon tea was exceptional and I would strongly recommend anyone staying to enjoy this. The option of gluten free and vegetarian for afternoon tea is rare and we felt staff had gone the extra mile. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, plenty to choose from and piping hot. Jonathan and Caroline were warm and welcoming hosts. Another positive was how spotlessly clean everywhere was. Altogether a very pleasant experience thanks to the housekeeper and the hosts.

We enjoyed our stay at Cedar Manor. Jonathan and Caroline were very friendly and helpful, they made our stay exceedingly comfortable and provided really good advice and helpful information before and during our stay. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and beautifully furnished; you could see that much care had been taken to make the manor a lovely and homely place to stay in. The location is excellent, within 5-10 minutes walking distance to the town centre and the bus stop is just outside. Oh, and breakfast was delicious !

From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The staff are exceptional the food in both Gilpin Spice and HRiSHi Restaurant were outstanding. Breakfast, lunch and dinner to a very high standard. I enjoyed a back, neck and Indian head massage in the newly opened treatment room by Sharma, highly recommend. The lounge area with log fire is perfect for relaxing in. It was a very special and memorable 2-night stay.

I first saw the Gilpin on an episode of “The Hairy Bikers” it certainly didn’t disappoint. Loved our stay here, very chilled & comfy, everyone helpful & friendly, fab breakfast, we was lucky enough to eat in both restaurants during our stay & the food was simply amazing. We look forward to visiting again, before we left we was shown a beautiful dog friendly room, so next time we can bring our dog 🐕‍🦺

The service was very attentive. The staff were really friendly, informed and were interested in their job. Food was above average. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Dinners were exceptional, different and well presented. We liked the staff's attitude to our desire not to go with Full Dinner on first night. Location was probably OK. Not overlooking the lake, but within easy reach of the Windermere scene.

On arrival, very welcoming - luggage taken from the car to the room and the car was parked for us. The room was very pleasant, well furnished and with a good selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate plus chilled water. Minibar was well stocked, though we didn't use it. Our stay was for 2 nights and we ate at each of the two restaurants - "Spice" which is an Asian fusion restaurant with a good buzz, and "Source" which is a Michelin-starred restaurant - the food and service were very good and we had a wine pairing which was very well chosen for us. All in all a great stay.

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful location. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. We had a spacious room with a large window seat. Loved the bathroom towels which were big and very thick. The bar and dining areas are very inviting. Great breakfast, cooked to order. Wish we were staying longer!

We have just come back from a Wonderfull two night break at Foxghyll country hotel. paul was a great host, Nothing was to much trouble for him. the location is perfect to access the lakes weather you fancy low walks or high ones . perfect spot for Amleside and Grasmere. you can leave the car at the hotel and walk to both destinations. the accommodation was warm and roomy, the hotel has a old english feel. views are superb from our room and breakfast was spot on, what was quirky was a small puzzle on every table at breakfast, it was entertaining whilst waiting for you home made breakfast (and you don't need to finish it before leaving the table LOL). There was a wonderful choice of cereals and, fresh fruit every morning. Its a friendly welcoming place especially being run by Paul and his family and there history. Hope to visit again. thank you Paul for a warm welcome.

Everything. One of my best stays ever via Booking.com 1) Location is perfect, tucked away in Ambleside / Rydal countryside but still 20-min walk (5-min drive) away from both villages. Location is strategic to visit the Lake District: Most locations are less than 30-min drive away. 2) Property is a beautiful grade 2 listed building with very cute garden and in immaculate conditions. Interior designs are very stylish and very British. 3) Room was super spacious and bed was comfortable. 4) Breakfast was delicious and made with organic/local products. 5) Parking available on site. In the afternoon, hosts organise a lovely ice-cream stand just outside the property. 6) Hosts were impeccable in all aspects: Check-in, check-out, breakfast, recommendations, manners.

my room had a gorgeous view of the garden, the bed was super comfy, room temperature was perfect, really good size room. extra special mention of the window seat! Breakfast was well cooked, a lot of choice, and I just love having someone else cut up fruit for my breakfast 😚. the location was perfect. 15 minute walk into Ambleside or 10min to Rydal, meant we were far enough away to feel isolated and in the country, without actually being isolated at all. bonus ice cream shop at the bottom of the garden on a sunny day 😎 the hosts were the cherry on top

Lots of trees and flowering plants in its 5-acre property. Our 3-night stay was very heavenly and relaxing. Pleasureable walking experience from village to village. We loved it here! The property is really cosy and beautifully decorated. The hot tub is lovely and relaxing - even in the snow. Our two little dogs had a great time too! Centrally located to some great little dog friendly bars. Ruth and Simon were fabulous hosts. We will definitely be back!

The Mulberry was lovely, in the heart of Windermere close to all shops,bars, restaurants. Ruth recommended local restaurants/cafe’s and walks for us after booking which was great. The apartment itself is spotless and check in / out was easy, the Hot Tub was great especially after all the walking we did with our 2 dogs.

The apartment was stunning, so clean, brand new, beautifully decorated & to a very high standard. The bathroom is an experience, we literally want to copy it at our new house, and the bedroom is super cosy, the bed is very comfortable & it was lovely & warm flat. There is a washing machine if you need it which we didn't but I thought that was very thoughtful being in the rainy lakes! & an outdoor space, we'd love to stay here again.

Everything about our stay was just perfect, the communication from the hosts before arrival, down to the Easter Eggs left for us as well. It’s a beautiful apartment, with everything that you need and the hot tub was amazing! It’s in the centre of Windermere, with the nearest restaurant 26 steps ( I counted) across the road. I’ve already shared this hidden gem with my family and friends and we will definitely book again.

Great place to stay if you are bringing your dog along Accommodation was clean and fresh and the room was comfortable and warm. fluffy white towels and complimentary toiletries.we even got little gifts for us and Alfie 🐕‍🦺 for valentines. Angus and his wife brightened our stay with a cheery smile every time we met, they go above and beyond and nothing is too much effort. The dining area was great, with complimentary sausages for all doggies. The Breakfast range was plentiful and food delicious at an amazing price. Great location and payable parking or free by the ferry from November to March. Lots of eateries, bars and restaurants and shops to browse on your door step so plenty to do. Would not hesitate to return 😊

We had lovely stay at Virginia Cottage B&B. Angus and Sherry were extremely welcoming and happy to help with anything during our stay. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the fresh milk for morning tea was a lovely touch. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options, and they had a great gluten free breakfast option, thank you!

Virginia Cottage was very convenient for Bowness Pier, pubs and restaurants. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. We stayed in the woodlands lodge which is just lovely, spacious, well decorated and furnished with a super-kingsize bed. It has a great private courtyard and its own hottub to the rear and pretty Front garden with an array of plants and flowers. The buffet breakfast was a lovely treat in the main hotel dining room on our wedding anniversary. We loved the hotel grounds, well kept gardens and it’s right across the road from the seafront.

The room was excellent, very spacious with a wonderful view of the sea. Very warm and beautifully decorated. Super shower and bath. Extremely comfortable. Breakfast was super with delicious fresh fruit, pastries and hot buffet, fully catered for gluten free diet. As we took our dog, we sat in the bar to eat, where we got excellent service - we could have been forgotten! The staff were so friendly and efficient and made a fuss of the dog. Dinner was also delicious. Extensive menu. So many things I could have chosen. Again we sat in the bar with dog and service was excellent. Bar staff also very friendly and helpful.

We want to have a night away from home. The Hotel was beautiful in the coastal road and looked impressive. Old style with lots of charm and character. The room was lovely and looked out across the bay. Lovely and clean and a bathroom that had a bath with a shower. Elmis shower wash and hair products. There was a spar that also had Elmis but didn’t use the spar due to the little time we had. Evening meal in the restaurant was lovely. I had the duck and my husband had the pork. There was a nice range of drinks especially the gin. The weather wasn’t great and we had a thunderstorm in the night. The room was hot due to the humid weather. There was a stand alone fan to use if needed. The bed was comfy and the bedding was crisp and clean. There was a small table with tea and coffee with water and some biscuits. The lounge was beautiful and I felt like I was back in time to an era of after dinner drinks in the lounge. Music played in the back ground and it felt like you could sit and chat in comfort. The staff were lovely that served us. I felt like I had been treated like a queen. Breakfast was a good selection for all your breakfast needs. The scrambled eggs were delicious and the black pudding. There was an area in the front to sit and admire the beautiful view and gardens. My husband and I had a wonderful stay and will definitely return but for a few more days next time.

We love this hotel, it is full of character, the staff are friendly and the rooms cosy. With a wonderful open fire in reception at this time of year adding to the warm atmosphere. The room was cosy, the bed comfortable and we had all we needed for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice and our evening meal was delicious! My husband and I also treated ourselves to a spa time and massage. So relaxing and my massage was truly wonderful... Just a perfect couple of nights. Thank you!

I absolutely LOVE this hotel! The staff are so attentive and polite, the food is excellent and the procecco and fudge in my room was delicious! The single room was a recent size, comfortable and clean. Lovely bathroom with a clean bath with excellent hot shower. I love the new breakfast buffet! Loads of choice with delicious English breakfast and porridge!

Great location. Friendly and helpful hosts. Clean, bright, spacious room with comfortable superking bed. Enjoyed a soak in the bath before bed, and a power shower in the morning. We can’t comment on the breakfast, as we didn’t make it down on time (both mornings)! But that was down to us still snoozing and wanting to lie-in a little longer - we were very comfortable. It did smell lovely though.

The property was absolutely beautiful and in a great location, the small things that made our stay very homely that you wouldn't get in most accommodations. The bath towels were larger and softer than ever, they give you separate towels for in and out the jacuzzi. Bed is very comfortable and clean, the facilities are great we didn't need anything and actually did cook in the cottage. We stayed in the stables and will be returning. When we arrived the staff/owner let us in he was very polite and helpful.

This stay was the ultimate luxury. The hosts were great at communicating and made the check in process very easy. The facilities were amazing, the hot tub was clean and the lights were beautiful at night, the outdoor TV was a fab little extra. The bed was so comfortable and we woke up this morning wanting to spend an extra night!! The quality of the accommodation was fantastic! The bath was beautiful and the views were breath taking. It's close enough to shops and restaurants but far enough to be peaceful and enjoy a good night sleep! A very special touch having a bottle of fizz on arrival. Thank you so much, we can't wait to return and our friends all want to stay as well!

WOW!! Firstly the attention to detail in the refurbishment of the cottages is outstanding! No expense spared! Fully kitted out with Everything you will need and more! You wont ever stay in a hotel again once you’ve stayed in one of these cottages, just perfect in every way! Perfect location! Very Close to the lake and still in a nice quiet spot! With amazing grounds and views! You really need to see the property’s as they speak for themselves! The cottage was amazing, great location within walking distance to the town. It was spotless, I am a housekeeper myself and I couldn't find one single thing wrong with the cottage. It was absolutely spotless, I am a stickler for cleanliness and this cottage was to a VERY high standard. The hot tub was hidden away in a cosy corner opposite the front door. It was down a flight of steps, it was by the main road but hidden well enough by the fence you didn't notice. The TV by the hot tub was a great touch as we enjoy music whilst relaxing. Little extras didn't go unnoticed like the welcome bottle of prosecco and extra towels for when you get out of the hot tub. It is a hidden gem in windermere, we loved it that much we booked our second stay before we left!

Set in an idyllic location with lovely countryside views all round, this Hotel is so peacefully quiet, ideal for a night or two of relaxation away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Phil, the host, is welcoming and courteous, room we stayed in was very spacious, comfortable, and clean (the Stag).

Hotel was immaculate, with gorgeous views and the room was superb with nice decor and very comfy beds and was also spotless. Also, Phil who runs Lyth Valley is one of the best hosts I've come across, very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay at Lyth Valley. Will be definitely returning when i can and recommending to people i know.

Excellent property, good location and clean. Kitchen, cooker fridge, and mod cons all good. Enough plates /cutelry etc. Depending on your cooking needs may want to take couple of big pans. Not a criticism just a shame i think due to size of lodge no en suite shower next to master bedroom although does have tiolet. Good clean jacuzzi however i think it could be made more private/enclsed with a bit of imagination.

I loved the lodge - clean spacious lounge/kitchen/diner with everything you need. A home away from home. Large fridge freezer for shopping and decorated/maintained well. We used the hot tub everyday which is maintained daily and kept at a constant temperature for you to get in and enjoy - no waiting. It was the highlight of the lodge and perfect after climbing Scafell! Loved the free parking spot outside. Communication from Sonia and Lee was fantastic from start to finish, with codes for entrance to the resort and safe key as well as a pack for the area and instructions. The ensuite toilet and sink in the master bedroom was great for maximising time with 4 adults sharing toilets/facilities. Beds were comfy. Good storage in all rooms.

Lovely lodge with hot tub, very well equipped even had a lot of condiments, shampoo/ con & shower gel. Very spacious at the lodge & close to the pub. Site was also very helpful & easy to book taxis however would recommend booking in advance 24 hours before so not disappointed. Hosts were so lovely couldn’t of been any more helpful & it was ready before our check in time so the lady messaged & let me know we could have a early check in. Excellent customer service & just made our stay that bit more special. Thank you we all had a great time & a great stay. We will definitely book again. xx

Lodge very comfortable and well equipped. Huge selection of DVDs kept us entertained in torrential rain! Hot tub, swimming pool, arcade all great. Resort much nicer than expected. Evening entertainment was brilliant at keeping wee one occupied during dinnertime in restaurant. Staff all friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely stay in room 1, the room was spacious with a lovely bath, shower and the most comfortable bed! We spent most of our time sleeping because the bed was like sleeping on clouds. Smart TV in the room with home comforts like netflix. Iron, ironing board in the room. Drinking water in the bathroom. Room service replenishes the tea and coffee each day and reception give you a slice of homemade cake. We had carrot cake and chocolate cake. Breakfast was hands down, the best breakfast I've had at a B&B. The best part about it was that, the staff come round with croissants and cakes in addition to the breakfast and ask if we want more toast, more juice, more tea or coffee. They made us feel like actual guests and that nothing was too much for them. The fact that they'd be willing to get you more breakfast if you wanted it, goes a long way. Nobody starves at the hideaway! The staff were friendly and lovely. The place was clean and well presented. Good car parking places and close to everything you need. I couldn't fault my stay.

Ideal location - walking distance from Windermere Village, but quiet and peaceful location. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Spotlessly clean and comfortable location. Breakfast & table service exceptional. John greeted us upon our arrival, showed us to our room and made us very welcome, offering suggestions of places to see. He also served breakfast one morning, as did Barbara and another lady, all of whom were friendly and welcoming. This is the best accommodation I have stayed at. Oh yes, and there was complimentary home-made cake every day too.

If you need a place to hideaway, it’s a perfect choice. Richard and the team are very friendly and helpful. Very easily get to Windermere station and center, but it’s still very quiet because of its location. The room is just comfortable, everything is well maintained and very clean, not that big but really comfortable. Breakfast is brilliant, tasty and well combined, that’s not something you get from so called “continental breakfast “

Richard the owner was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and comfortable and had lovely views. The bathroom was lovely in had a separate shower and a luxurious slipper bath. The breakfast was delicious and had lots of choice, the complimentary cakes were fantastic, all home made. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Would definitely recommend and would go back.

There breakfast room was bright and airy and the tables nicely spaced out. There is a comfy lounge to sit in with loads of information about the area, plus maps and walks you can take with you on an outing. Ken and Cindy are amazing hosts, so friendly and helpful, we couldn’t have asked for a better overall experience.

Lovely warm welcome. Ken & Cindy both go above and beyond to ensure you have a nice relaxing stay. We found the on street parking was totally adequate. Its a short walk into town with numerous excellent restaurants, shops and bars. We were in room 2 which is very tastefully decorated, and nearly overslept for breakfast on both days because we were so relaxed and enjoying slumbering in the big comfy bed. There were ample tea/coffee options in the room (also hot chocolate which was a lovely treat at night) The breakfast was excellent, with delicious sausages from the local butcher, all cooked to perfection, with every permutation of extras/additions your heart could desire. I loved the fresh fruit salad and my husband liked the separate citrus salad with yoghurt. We rarely 'return' to accomodation, but I felt rather coddled here, and the little bit of nurturing set me up well for returning home to battle a tricky week. We will absolutely be back and have already recommended to friends

Just got back from a short break to the lakes we have stayed in all different locations over the years but this was our new favourite. Lovely hosts very welcoming and knowledgable about the area . We had a very comfortable room with view to the back of the house the bed was comfy and large choice of pillows the en-suite was very clean and fully equipped with everything you needed .The breakfast provided was excellent lots of choice and very tasty. A very memorable stay will definitely be back ,thanks to Ken and Cindy

Ken & Cindy s home is a fantastic place for a getaway. The room was spotless & there were nice touches such as a choice of tea & coffee, toiletries & the best breakfast we have had in a B&B. There was even a note in with the tea/coffee to contact the hosts if you want fresh milk. The bed was really comfortable and I would rather it better than a popular hotel chain bed. The hosts were welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and very helpful.

What an amazing weekend! Denehurst is a hidden gem, a beautiful cosy home and the hosts, Ken and Cindy were just amazing, so helpful and welcoming. We loved our two night stay and I have to say their breakfast was the best, super tasty and a great selection, including dietary requirements. Perfect walking distance between both Windermere and Bowness, easy parking and just a beautiful place to stay. We will definitely be back in the future.

The property was in a great central location. Off-road private parking spot. Really comfortable bed & pillows. Room was a nice temperature. Room was well equipped with smart TV, large fan, kettle, tea, coffee, use of wine glasses & corkscrew, hairdryer, hand soap, body wash/shampoo, towels, spare toilet rolls, air freshener. The whole property and room was very clean. Breakfast was delicious! Hosts were very friendly and attentive. There was a lovely and bright, clean communal living room. The dining room was very spacious. Thank you Hayley and Steve, we will be back!

Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit and yogurt and then a full English and salmon scrambled egg. fresh produce no grease on the plates Lovely service too Our room was spotless, beyond clean and comfortable. Attention to detail throughout the boutique. Location was perfect too off the Main Street so very quiet but close enough to restaurants and cafes and the lake was only a 20min walk

The rooms are lovely, tastefully decorated with nice little touches such as a coffee machine, a wide array of hot drinks, a little fridge with fresh milk and water. The beds are very comfy with clean, crisp bedding, the towels are fluffy and the shower was powerful with special shower heads to make the water soft. Breakfast both mornings was delicious, first class service from the hosts, made to feel very welcome. Great location to discover Windermere with a short walk down to Bowness.

We absolutely loved it here! It was so homely and welcoming and so clean that we could not fault it. The room was amazing.The bed was so comfortable I did not want to leave! The room was lovely and quiet. I could not hear anyone else in any other room or outside the room. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly, we will definitely be back again.

We recently stayed at Oakfold House in Bowness, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and friendly service. The location is perfect—just a short walk from the centre of Bowness and Lake Windermere, yet nestled in a quiet and peaceful area. I recently stayed at this lovely hotel in the Lake District and had a wonderful experience. The place was incredibly cozy, and the owners, Chris and Robyn, were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Everything was spotless, and breakfast was delicious, with very attentive service. The room was super clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel!

Staff were friendly, professional, very welcoming and accommodating. The property was spotless and in a very good state of repair. I believe it is a relatively recent venture. The single room, whilst small, was well-equipped, including tea / coffee making facilities, and Robyn offered (and provided) fresh milk in a small thermos flask - a nice touch. The bathroom included an ample supply of quality toiletries, very good towels, and a decent-sized shower. Breakfast was consistently excellent; a high quality and generous choice, all nicely presented, and making maximum use of local produce. The location was perfect for my needs and represented very good value. Private parking was available and I was able to park freely and without any issues. It was quiet at night, even with the window open. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending the place, and would hope to stay again in future.

This house is perfect: 1. It is conveniently located, quiet despite being in a bustling area, and clean and comfortable. 2. The breakfast is sumptuous and delicious. Chris's cooking skills are amazing, and the ingredients are fresh and prepared with great care. I had my 10-night stay in London, I found the quality and standard of this breakfast exceeded the average in London. 3. The landlord couple are very kind, hardworking, simple and well-mannered. Due to an unexpected event, I forgot the check-out date and thought it was the next day. I left on the check-out day, which forced the landlord couple to pack up all my luggage and make alternative arrangements so they could accommodate the waiting guests. Despite such a big trouble and unexpected workload, they showed no complaint and kindly expressed understanding.

Absolutely gorgeous stay at Oakfold House. Location was ideal, almost in the middle of Bowness and Windermere - could easily walk to both or hop on the bus opposite the house, which run every 20 minutes. The house itself was beautiful and so warm / cosy, which I wasn't expecting with it being an older property full of character. We had room 1 on the ground floor with a double and single bed. Room and house was spotless and spacious. En suite was a good size and shower lovely and hot. Beds were very comfy and we slept really well both nights. We booked breakfast both mornings and highly recommend the vegetarian breakfast - everything was fresh and hot. Very enjoyable stay and hosts were lovely - thank you!

Lacet House has everything you could ask for, I genuinely wouldn't look beyond this property if you're after an excellent stay in the Lake District. It's located centrally in Ambleside, just a short walk from all the main amenities or from the shores of Lake Windermere itself, we particularly enjoyed visiting the two local bookshops as well as a number of excellent local pubs and restaurants, the Temperance Inn being our particular favourite. Louise was incredibly helpful, super friendly and provided some excellent local suggestions. We were staying for a wedding and upon arrival were provided with contact details for two local taxi firms. We really enjoyed chatting to Louise each morning and she made us feel very much at home! Breakfast was cooked to order by Shaun, and is truly an excellent fry up but there are lighter options if preferred. For us however, the fry up was the perfect way to start a couple of busy days. Our room was spacious, clean and very modern. We also had some excellent views of the surrounding hills. I could not recommend Lacet House enough and if we are ever back in Ambleside we will be sure to stay here again.

I visited this weekend with my dad and we had another great stay at Lacet House. Louise & Shaun are both so friendly, happy to help and extremely knowledgable about the area. Our twin room was tidy, spacious & modern, with a nice view and an en-suite which was perfect for our 2 night stay. The breakfast is cooked to order with high quality ingredients and was super tasty to set you up for the day. The fact that there is also a private car park for guests is also an added bonus, particularly given the very central location, this is a great perk! If you are looking for somewhere centrally located in Ambleside, with comfortable rooms & lovely hosts, look no further.

We loved our stay here. The location is perfect – right in the heart of Ambleside with everything just a short stroll away. Our room was full of character and felt really cosy, with quality fittings throughout and a very comfy bed. The shower was excellent, and we had lovely views over the park. Despite being so central, the room was quiet and peaceful. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and having parking on site was a big bonus. Highly recommend!

I could not recommend the Lacet House more. Louise & Shaun made our stay really exceptional, we were not expecting it. They were very kind and very helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We used one parking spot around the back of the building. The breakfast was delicious made by Shaun, and Louise was so friendly and caring she helped us plan our hike one of the days. I was there with my 2 friends and both Shaun & Louise remembered all 3 of our names for the duration of our stay. They made us feel so welcome, we would definitely stay here again. The location is also great, the whole town is very walkable.

The location is very central, and having the facility to park at the property was a plus. Both hosts: Giles and Andrea were very friendly and attentive but not over the top. Our room (11) was very clean and had everything we required. There was no noise from other rooms and minimal road noise on the back of the house, so our stay was peaceful and quiet. Bed was soo comfy. The fan in the room was a 'god send' due to the beautiful warm weather on our stay. Breakfast was really tasty, with plenty of options to chose from.

Very clean room with a really comfortable bed. Room 11 had very nice views and a new bathroom installation. No noise when we stayed. USB charging port on bedside sockets. Hairdryer. Tea, coffee bags also fresh milk usually available from downstairs fridge. Really good breakfast: fresh orange; fresh fruit etc.; perfectly cooked and quickly served. Adequate parking (my car is quite large and hasn't the best turning circle, so had to reverse out) Ambleside is small, so not far to walk to the bars and eateries.

I loved EVERYTHING about staying here. The hosts Matt and Lucy made sure my stay was perfect - I stayed in a single bed room which had a gorgeous view and so well appointed. Room size was perfect with room for my suitcase to stay open - very comfortable bed! A lovely decent sized bathroom with full sized bath. Everything was immaculate. The breakfast was gorgeous. Wonderful range of individually jarred fresh fruit and home made muesli followed by selection of hot breakfast made to order. Love the actual location - I think Ambleside is THE perfect base to stay in the Lake District. Great walks that are easily accessible - awesome range of places to eat

We had a wonderful stay at Brantfell with wonderful hosts, Mandy and Adie. As soon as we arrived Mandy gave us a pass to park the car for the duration of our stay in a space which was just across the road so parking was never a problem. She also provided us with lots of information on Ambleside. The room was exceptionally well maintained with a very comfy bed. It was lovely and quiet and we had great nights sleep.Tea coffee and biscuits were replenished daily and when we requested decaffeinated tea for breakfast we were also provided with decaf coffee and tea each day in our room. Adie was always so cheerful and welcoming when we came down in the morning with Mandy cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Breakfasts were wonderful with great selection (the smoked salmon and smoked haddock with eggs set us up for the day and the omelettes are amazing) . Brantfell is right in the centre of Ambleside with many restaurants, pubs and shops round the corner and the ferry pier about a 10 minute walk up the road. There are also some great walks to do from Ambleside and Adie provided us with great directions so we didnt get lost 😄. We were very sorry to have to leave at the end of our stay

Lovely 4 night break in this super clean and comfortable b&b in the perfect location in beautiful Ambleside. Room was great with a comfortable bed, good WiFi and super powerful shower. Excellent breakfast. Parking was free and easy in the towns car parks using the local business pass handed to us on arrival. The hosts, Mandy and Aidie were extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are thinking of visiting the lakes, we can wholeheartedly recommend Brantfell as a great place to stay.

We had an amazing 3 night stay in the Lake District at Brantfell House. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly providing plenty of helpful information during our stay as well as delicious breakfasts. One excellent bonus was the bag lunches they prepared for us for a small fee. These were excellent during our exploration of the lake district saving us the time (and considerable expense) of finding restaurants for lunch. Our room was quite comfortable and nicely decorated. Brantfell house was well located and in easy walking distance to many restaurants and pubs in Ambleside.

From minute one, Ade and Mandy were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Room lovely and clean, bed was very comfy. Breakfast was very tasty and always happy to accommodate any requests etc. Ade was also very knowledgable and helpful with routes and things to do in and around the Lakes. Perfect Ambleside location and parking was free - we were allowed to keep hold of the parking permit for a short time after we checked out which was very much appreciated! Absolutely perfect stay - thanks guys!

What a beautiful B & B this is. Outside is just gorgeous and if it had not been raining it would have been fabulous sat in the gorgeous garden. We were met warmly by Caz, as sadly Steve was ill. She was so welcoming and bubbly, despite being busy and several new arrivals coming at the same time. Caz explained about the parking and also explained about breakfast. She was great! Our room was really lovely. It was spotlessly clean, there were lovely special touches around, totally loved the towel made into a dog and the bed was divine. So comfortable & we had the best nights sleep we have had for a long time. You choose your breakfast the night before but you can go down for it anytime between 8am & 9.30, which is great. The dining room is a lovely bright, relaxing space and breakfast was served by Katie who is Caz & Steve's daughter, who stepped in and she was just brilliant. So friendly, polite, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. You would have thought she had done this job forever. Breakfast was cooked perfectly by Caz and it was very tasty and could not have been better. There is a really lovely atmosphere at this B & B and it is extremely relaxing, modern, super clean & comfortable. Thankyou Caz & Katie for such an amazing, first class stay & for excellent communication. We really look forward to seeing you again in September!

The lady and gentleman we met who run this B&B were very welcoming and had a great sense of humour, we felt very relaxed and safe here. The room was exceptionally clean and so cozy (we also found the beds to be super comfy and even the pillows!) we had everything we needed in the room including an en-suite bathroom and shower, and a hairdryer! The location was absolutely perfect, right in the middle of Ambleside, literally a two minute walk to the restaurant we went to eat in. For the breakfast, we ordered what we preferred the night prior, and I think it might have been the best breakfast I’ve ever tasted. Lovely atmosphere and we felt so relaxed and comfortable. 10/10, we would book to go here again absolutely!

Hillsdale B&B was an incredible stay. The location, the home itself, the rooms, and the breakfast were all amazing and exceeded all of our expectations. Steve and Caz were so welcoming, personally showing us into their property, guiding us to the parking, offering excellent recommendations, and preparing the perfect English breakfast in their beautiful breakfast room. As soon as the five of us settled into our rooms, we all said we wished we were staying longer! Steve and Caz thought of everything - all the amenities and necessities required and more! I couldn't give a more glowing recommendation to this bed and breakfast. If you are considering a visit to the Lake District and Ambleside - DO NOT miss this amazing stay!

This was our second stay here with our friends as we were so impressed the first time we stayed. The owners are lovely. Very friendly, helpful and hospitable. The property is decorated to a high standard and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom/shower great. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The property is in a quiet road but close to all the amenities. We highly recommend this property!

Ivythwaite Lodge really is a wonderful placed to stay. We booked the luxury double attic room to stay for 3 nights following our wedding. The room was spacious, and the attention to detail in terms of amenities really helped make the stay as relaxing as possible. From the mini fridge in the room, to the wine glassed provided and arm chairs offering another place to relax in the room. Abigail and Andrew were wonderful hosts; chatty and welcoming, with some very useful knowledge of local walking routes. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. As a coeliac, it can be nerve wracking staying away somewhere and having them cook for you. However, Abigail put me at ease immediately, letting me know all the measures they have in place to ensure cross contamination is avoided. Home-made gluten free granola and home-made muffins really were wonderful touches (the muffins made the perfect mid-hike snack during our trip). All the cooked breakfast items were delicious, and it really does make a huge difference seeing that produce is home made or locally sourced wherever possible. We definitely wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Ivythwaite again – thanks so much for having us.

Had an absolutely fantastic stay! Andrew and Abigail are amazing hosts who were always friendly, kind and super helpful. The room was amazing and beautiful. It had everything we could have wished for. The breakfasts were amazing and obviously prepared with a lot of love and care. We are still obsessed with Abigail's banana chocolate chip muffins. The location is perfectly situated right between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, making everything very walkable whilst still being peaceful and quiet. Thank you for the lovely stay!

Our stay at Ivythwaite Guest House was a lovely experience. Both owners were incredibly welcoming, the accommodation was very clean, the power rain-shower was perfection (complete with the most luxurious locally sourced body lotions and soaps), and the room had all essential amenities required (including cookies). However, what stood out for me were the small details, such as the freshly baked cakes every day that you could take with you after a delicious cooked breakfast, the local walking and attraction information, friendly suggestions from the owners, and the beautiful gardens surrounding the home reminded me of The Secret Garden... Complete with a friendly little cat. A beautiful home, set within a beautiful location, close to many local walks and features. Highly recommend.

Dave and Deborah own this cozy Bed & Breakfast, extremely well located in Bowness on Windermere. They were very friendly throughout our stay and made us feel very welcome! The breakfast was simple but delicious, the bedroom very clean and smelling fresh, as the entire place. You can walk to most points of interest in the village in 5-10 minutes. It is really quiet at night, and we had a lake view from the bedroom, which I thoroughly appreciated for relaxing a little bit before heading out for dinner. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting as well as I plan to visit again in the future!

A gorgeous renovated quirky guesthouse with two flights of stairs at either end leading to the guest rooms. There are fifteen rooms but David and Deborah are comfortable running a maximum of six to eight rooms. We had room 4 which is very spacious and has sole use of a modern bathroom across the hallway which was no problem. We even had a peak of Lake Windermere from our window. A delicious full English breakfast is served from a cosy dining room downstairs and a comfortable guest lounge is offered on the ground floor. It is just a two minute walk to a great little pub full of character and great pub food - The Hole in the Wall. A five minute walk downhill through little twisting streets passing character filled buildings takes you down to ferry terminal to cruises on the lake. There are lots of eateries and shops on the way too. David kindly drove us to the train station when we left as he decided it was too busy a time to find a cab. Deborah cooks up a great breakie and answered all my emails quickly before we arrived. This Welsh couple are welcoming and made our stay very relaxing.

Location is excellent and very central to Bowness, free parking. Bedroom lovely and spacious, very clean. Excellent choice for breakfast - cooked breakfast,fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt. Hosts Dave and Debbie were very welcoming and gave lots of information about the local amenities and activities, pubs, and restaurants.Had a great few days, and we'll definitely be returning.

The hosts David and Deborah are the nicest people you could meet. They make you feel right at home. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms have everything you need. The room was gorgeous (superior four poster) and very clean, being served breakfast in our room was great too, enjoying it at our own leisure and in PJ’s! Great choice of starters; cereal, fruit bowls, yoghurts and choices of teas and coffee. Main breakfast again lots of choice and variations to please everybody, we had the cooked Cumbrian breakfast which was delicious.

This B&B is a hidden jewel. This picturesque little building is beautiful inside and out. Named after the booked “The ascent of Rum Doodle”, each room is themed after a chapter, we stayed in “Wish”. It’s quirky and comfortable. This cozy little B&B really has it all. Greeted on arrival, the host went over a couple of housekeeping rules abs gave us our key. The room was spotless and as a special nod to our wedding anniversary, they had put petals on our bed. Lovely view from our room of the Lakes hills. The room has everything you could need, kettle, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and complementary biscuits, TV and access to DVDs….a hair dryer too (great for me as my personal one is huge!) The night was quiet and we slept well in a comfortable bed. Great choice of menu for breakfast, the first morning we had a traditional breakfast and the second morning I had fresh salmon with eggs and my husband had Pancakes… all of which were amazing, hot and servers quickly too! Staff were very polite, kind and helpful. Nothing was too much for them and we were sad to leave. Honestly, has such a lovely stay. In walking distance of Bowness, local shops and boats. Buses are frequent.

Very good location :) Parking behind the hotel and some spaces along the road. Run doodle is very charming warm and welcoming. we stayed in room 6 it was absolutely beautiful. The bed was so comfortable and lovely pillows had the best sleep here. Tea and coffee in the room with a kettle. Tv in the room and WiFi. Dressing robes in the wardrobe with hanging space with an iron and small ironing board. There is also a hairdryer in the dressing table. Lots of space in the draws too. Really good powerful and hot shower with lovely fluffy big towels. The room was nice and warm at all times but the added bonus of an oil filled radiator if you get a little cold. We had breakfast in our room both days and it was so good very hot a fresh tasted great. Fresh juices and fresh coffee. The staff are so polite and friendly.

The property was situated on a quiet road and offered spectacular views, looking very charming from the outside. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the hotel staff, who escorted us to our room. It was absolutely gorgeous, featuring a king-size bed and our own table for breakfast with breathtaking views. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very close to Widermere train station and Bowness within walking distance. Lots of choices of restaurants and shops. Room cleaned everyday, superb breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

Quirky and characterful decor and very comfortable. The breakfast on both days was delicious. We asked for a pack up breakfast on the Saturday as we were doing a charity hike and it was exceptional. We got loads! It definitely helped with our energy levels! The staff were friendly and attentive and the lady in the breakfast room was very welcoming.

The location, less than a mile from Ambleside was perfect. A pleasant walk into town, with all the advantages of being in the countryside. The gardens are lovely, and as the house is well set back off the road, adjacent to a working farm, it was incredibly quiet and peaceful, full of birdsong, We were in the topmost room which was thoughtfully laid out, spotlessly clean, and with a really excellent shower room. Window with view to the fells and an additional Velux window looking to the stars of a night, we had the best of all worlds. Fabulous views, good breakfast and pleasant staff.

Everything was perfect. The location is a 5-minute walk from the lake and all the shops/restaurants. The room was a family room and was very spacious and spotless. The beds were very comfy, and the lovely light breakfast, fresh orange, muffins breakfast bars and yoghurts were enough to start your day, and the coffee machine made a lovely coffee. All the staff we met were very helpful and would do anything to help. They even made my 12 year granddaughter smile with a surprise balloon and banner for her birthday (thank you). Very nice place would highly recommend.

We loved everything. We will come back if staying in the area again for sure! The owner Sandra was super helpful leading up to our stay, answering all of our questions. Staff really helpful, friendly, caring & keen to give us tips on exploring the local area. Didn’t feel like anything was too much effort. The room was lovely & clean, huge & spacious for our family (including toddler and baby). The room & ensuite were spotlessly clean too. Breakfast is left in the room for you; juice, yoghurts, breakfast bars, porridge pots & muffins plus ample tea & coffee supplies. The location is perfect; 5 mins walk downhill into Bowness & a further 5 into Windermere. Parking on site which is a huge bonus.

Sandra was so welcoming & helpful during our stay at the Lingwood Lodge. The room was really cosy & clean, no complaints from us at all. At the entrance of the lodge there’s lots of handy leaflets about things to do nearby and an amazing list of restaurant pubs etc which really helped us to know where’s best to go in the area. The location of the lodge is perfect, only a 10 minute walk from the front where there’s lots of water activities, pubs, restaurants, shops, etc. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and have really enjoyed every second of our weekend. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

The location is very central, a very short walk into Ambleside. We had a beautiful room on the ground floor, so no stairs. It was spotless, a massive super king size bed which was very comfortable, large room, with a large modern bathroom and beautiful view. It had tea and coffee facilities and even a mini fridge. Dressing gowns and slippers were also included. The breakfast was served between 8am - 10am, to suit everyone, it was fresh hot and delicious, with a good choice. The scenery and the views were amazing, and the location was perfect as it was walking distance to the nearest town. Nice and quiet in the hotel and relaxing too! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities in the hotel room were comfortable and relaxing to use. We loved the shower room, and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. The breakfast in the mornings was great with a lot of variety. The interior of the hotel was lovely. Car park spaces were nice and wide. Overall, it made our getaway much more of a great experience and would love to come back someday.

I decided to write a few words about the place where I recently stayed. Diamond Lodge Ambleside Junior Suite No. 5 - what can I say about this place and the room we live in - absolutely 5* from me. Small guesthouse, walking distance from the city, walking distance to many hiking trails, room with beautiful views, it's a great pleasure to drink coffee/tea in the morning and watch the misty mountains, the rooms are large and quiet, the bed is extremely comfortable, the bathroom is very modern, spacious and beautiful, what worked the most for me (besides the views) was the homely atmosphere, we were very nicely welcomed, the staff was very friendly and always ready to help with anything, whatever you need there to help, another amazing thing for me very much breakfast was important, wow wow wow, so much choice, delicious every time So if you are planning a trip to Ambleside you should definitely consider this place to stay xxx

Perfect location to the centre of Ambleside (5min) stroll and the stunning Lakes District. Wonderful, friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Bedroom and bathroom were well appointed, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of food, with fresh coffee and teas. They catered easily to my vegan requirements. Parking provided made life easy. We just can’t fault this lovely accommodation. Special extra thank you to the staff who helped me our departure, you are so kind, and caring.

Great weekend stay away at Bowness Guest House. The room was comfy, clean and close to central location for food and drinks. This was such a lovely stay. The property is really well located for access into Bowness, with only a 2 min walk into the centre of the town. The room was immaculately clean, and very spacious. Bed was so comfy, and we liked the small touches of the tea/coffee/water as well as a book FULL of recommendations for nearby restaurants. Michelle and Bernard were super friendly and helpful too. We stayed in the super king room and you get a designated parking spot right outside of your room - this was great as parking in the lakes can be notoriously difficult! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be back! Really recommend if you’re heading into Bowness on Windermere for the weekend.

Meadowcroft is in a great location for exploring the Lakes District, less than 20-30 minutes drive to Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston. As an old building, it had a few creaks, but also lots of charm and was pleasantly decorated. The rooms are good-sized by UK standards, very clean and comfortable (including the bed), with lots of storage space. Bathroom was good sized and had plenty of towels (washcloths and hand towels and bath towel for each person!), which is an unexpected luxury in the UK. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was great - very generous continental breakfast offerings, plus full flexibility in terms of mixing and matching amongst the hot offerings. Breakfast room was bright and cheerful. It was also lovely to have a sitting room upstairs that guests could use, with a comfy sofa, tv, microwave and extra dishes. As we had to leave early our last morning (before breakfast service started), the team were very happy to let us use the upstairs fridge to store continental breakfast things overnight, so we could still have breakfast. Very easy and accommodating check-in process, even for a late arrival. Although not really in town, there is a fun pub just a few minutes walk away, so we didn't have to drive into town for dinner if we didn't want to. Debbie was very entertaining - a born host!

Perfectly located, 5-10mins from Windermere. Dog friendly - staff were very welcoming, very attentive during breakfast, lovely conversations. The double room at the front, very clean and cosey, we fitted a medium sized dog create in the room comfortably. Breakfast was amazing, staff chatted with us, made us feel very welcome, very attentive to guests needs, all in all - Breakfast was spot on, bacon, eggs etc .. my partner has allergies - very attentive. Thank you. The Watermill Inn pub just up the road, perfect for evening meals.

This house was exceptionally beautiful, very well decorated, and exceptionally clean. Our room was upstairs and there was a very nice lounge room with refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle and tea, and books to read. This property is the type that you might want to just have a day just to lounge. Check in was very easy and detailed written instructions provided. Breakfast was fabulous complete with several homemade jams (thin and thick cut marmalade, my favorite) fruit compote, and a delicious cooked to order breakfast. The large breakfast room and buffet was very accommodating and our hostess very friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfy! We were about a 25 minute lovely scenic drive to Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top farm where we visited the next day.

Nice comfortable, clean room in a convenient for us location that was easy to drive to and park. Lovely size room with a really big bathroom. Friendly, welcoming staff that had everything prepared and awaiting arrival. Great breakfast with fun visitors. Would stay here again! We were concerned about road noise, but there was no problem. Fun to see the farm across the way and frolicking sheep, and strolled to the mill for dinner.

Breakfast is from 8am but on our second morning we wanted an earlier start so arranged for a bacon butty and coffee to go. Everyone we interacted were very helpful and friendly.

We had the loveliest stay at Heidi’s lodge in Grasmere! Easy contactless check-in with clear instructions, lovely room just as shown in pictures and wonderful spacious bathroom with separate shower and bath. Cozy room with comfy bed and good amnesties. We had to be a bit cautious of our heads as the wooden frames in the loft would come a bit low but there was a sign that warned us of that too, we felt it gave the room character. The included breakfast was amazing too, friendly staff and good choices of food, juices and hot drinks! Altogether a lovely enjoyable stay and would come here again!

Perfect location in the village, stayed in Room 1 which was spacious, clean with a large comfy bed, perfect room. Hosts were welcoming and accommodating to our early arrival at 1.30pm, room ready and very friendly/helpful throughout stay.

Perfect location, room was lovely (n0 4) with a Juliette balcony which overlooked the road/square in the centre of Grasmere. We had a massive en-suite bathroom with separate bath and walk in shower. What my friend and I really loved was the attention to detail the owner had obviously thought about. From the very clear arrival instructions, menu options for breakfast which could be ordered in advance, to the little extras in the room such as taster tablets of Kendal mint cake….. although my friend and I did raise our eyebrows at the mirror at the end of the bath, but as we’d booked a double room which was the only option left, we didn’t take advantage of this added extra 🤣 Breakfast at Heidi’s cafe was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, can’t praise them enough. We will definitely be back!

They told us the points of interest and fast routes to those areas, the bnb was the cleanest I've ever seen compared to others I've stayed at. They upgraded us for free! And extra surprise~ and if that wasn't enough, when we got into the room there was a signed card and vox of chocolates waiting for us. Can it get better? YES! The bed was so comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud. The breakfast was amazing! All items were sourced locally and their jam was homemade! (We walked away with 2 jars, it's too good to have only once, seriously) they also allowed us to leave our bag in the bnb while we spent the last day out. No other job has ever offered that before. I cannot recommend this place enough, not one complaint to give. The staff were amazing, food is incredible, area is beautiful and close to pretty much everything! It was extremely clean and comfortable! If you want to go to the lake district, stay here! I can't thank the hosts enough for the effort they put into making our stay perfect~

I had an absolutely amazing stay at this guest house! It was a smooth check-in, and this continued for the rest of our stay. Although we did not see the host, i felt completely at home. The room was cosy, clean, and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful little touches that made a big difference—like the decor, soft linens, and a welcome snack. I also appreciated how quiet and peaceful the property was, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The guesthouse was really well located, about halfway between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. Parking was plentiful and easy. We got a free upgrade on our room! The room was really clean and felt really personal, the beds were really comfy and we slept wonderfully. The room had everything we could need, and some really nice touches like fresh ground coffee and a cafetiere, homemade flapjack and free toiletries, and you could help yourself to replacement tea/coffee/toilet roll etc. Check in was really early at 11am which was great as most places are 3-4pm. The check-in process was easy and the hosts were really helpful and attentive. You can tell they put a lot of care, attention and effort into their business and it really shows. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Staying at the Invergarry Guest House was such a brilliant experience. The location was perfect. There was a 20 minute walk to the train station, around 10 minutes from the Windermere lake where lots of shops, cafes and food places were around and lots of beautiful walks, with a bus station outside the house which would take you to the lake, train station and tours around the lake district every 20 minutes. It was a very clean and spacious room with very comfortable furniture. It was a quiet place, perfect in the six weeks holidays! The owners were lovely and were always there to help! We would definitely come again and recommend!

Local transport close by, so we just parked up and used that. Very convenient to amble into both Windermere and Bowness. We shall definitely return. Had an amazing 3 days at this lovely guesthouse for my partner's 30th birthday as a surprise. Pamela made us feel soo welcome and even got my partner some chocolates and a not for her which was lovely ! The customer service was outstanding and felt like she went above and beyond to help our needs. The room (room 14) was outstanding with a lush balcony and a view that was perfect with the weather! It had accommodated everything we needed and was clean to a high standard, the mini fridge was ideal, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was top notch especially the TV in the wall of the bathtub was a great touch and worked well besides the channels not registering, air conditioning was ideal and the just felt like a good room, Breakfast that was also includes with the price was outstanding, a good selection of cooked breakfast and cerials with tea, coffee and juces, I personally enjoyed the Eggs Benedict! Overally pleasantly happy with our stay and was a special time and I would deffo go back to Hawksmoor if we get the opportunity! It's located in a brilliant location,.15 minutes either side and you have Windermere town and bowness. And finally Pamalea was an amazing host and can't thank her enough for everything !! Can't highly recommend this place !!

The guest house located not too far and not too near from the local shops and town centre. The staffs are very friendly and made us feel welcome right at the beginning. We were taken to our room. Informations of the services from the place were clearly explained. They also give us advice on different places to visit. The room was beyond our expectation. comfortable, clean and with very nice balcony next to a beautiful mountain side with a running stream. The breakfast also was very tasty and freshly made by order with variety of common breakfasts that you can choose from as well as open bar for cold breakfast such as cereals, yogurt and fresh fruits. Me and my friend ordered Scrambled egg on toast and Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and with a nice hot tea and coffee.

I and my wife stayed at the Hawksmoor Guest house in July 2022. The guest house is located at a convenient location. The owners Trevor and Philippa were amazing and warm - they even suggested an itinerary depending on our requirements. Talking about the guest house - our room was immaculately clean, had a beautiful view from the balcony, and had all the needed modern appliances. The guest house serves a brilliant breakfast that is cooked fresh and to your liking and taste. There is plenty of parking available as well. Over all, our stay was very pleasant and cosy.

We were offered a coffee upon checking in which was appreciated. Breakfast was cooked fresh to our requirements and were good quality products. Good choice of cereals and fruit salad. The room was spacious along with the bathroom. Toiletries provided and were luxury toiletries. Coffee making facility and coffee sachets and biscuits provided daily along with milk. Bed was comfortable. Large tv was provided. Mini fridge was ideal for snacks and decor was lovely. Great location between Bowness and Windermere with a bus stop nearby. Staff were friendly. Local pub within walking distance.

Pauline and Bill are the perfect hosts: everything very well organised. They are so, welcoming, helpful and friendly without being "fussy" or overbearing! The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and comfortable and the attention to detail at the Glen is second to none! (For example even providing a small pair of scissors to aid opening of those awkward little sachets of sauce etc!) We also liked the fact that they do not enter your room during your stay but you can ask for a top-up on any items required via a form left outside your room. The breakfast was amazing - all beautifully presented, well cooked and served efficiently. Everything so clean, orderly and comfortable. The best B & B we've ever stayed in!

Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Lovely guest house with modern, spacious rooms that were exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Plenty of parking spaces and an excellent base to explore the lakes. A perfect, peaceful place to relax with a powerful shower and a lovely deep bath which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended and very good value for money.

An excellent comfortable B&B in a quiet peaceful area on the edge of the Lake District with friendly helpful staff. Excellent made to order breakfast with other meals available at a good country Inn a short walk up the road. Comfortable modern well equipped rooms with very good en suite shower rooms. Cleanliness is excellent. Would stay again.

We liked everything! Quiet location, comfortable, clean and well appointed accommodation.Paulines attention to detail, and extra touches were perfect. The breakfasts were very tasty and well prepared with excellent and very friendly service. We stayed in Room One, which is right on the ground floor as soon as you walk in. We were initially worried it might be noisy, but it was actually really peaceful. The room itself was beautifully decorated—it felt warm, cosy, clean, and really inviting. The bed was super comfortable, and we had such a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was lovely too, really nicely decorated, and the shower was absolutely perfect after a long hike. Easy to get into with code locks on the door - no issue at all. We would definitely stay at The Penn again! (We did the Old Man of Coniston walk—such an amazing route, even though it was a bit cloudy when we went. Also, Toast, which is nearby, did a really great breakfast sandwich!)

The Penn was absolutely amazing - it felt like a really luxury experience staying here for a few nights while visiting Keswick. We were amazed at the attention to detail - every little thing is perfect. We loved that it was dog friendly and there was even a bag of goodies and a dog bowl provided for our dog. We were given an upgrade to a dog friendly room with a bath which was really luxurious. The location is prime - it is a stone's throw away from Windermere town and lots of shops and restaurants, and away from the hustle and bustle of busier touristy areas. There was off street car parking available but with limited spaces.

Fantastic! We have stayed one night on our journey towards Lake District. This place is fantastically located in the centre, 2 minutes away from bars and restaurants! The check in process is stress free with the code given to get in. Easy and simple. The room was so cozy! Everything you need, perfect comfy bed, tea/coffee facilities, such a luxury lovely bathroom! 10/10, already planning a return mid August!

Very close to train station and windermere centre. Easy walk to cafes and restaurants. Clean property exactly like in the photos. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There was a bathtub and shower. Tea and coffee with biscuits and toffee to welcome us.

Cannot recommend The Penn enough! We stayed in the small double which was the perfect size for 2 people. The room was beautifully decorated, you can really tell a lot of time and effort was put into it. The bed was super comfy too with good quality bedding. We loved the personal touches too, a small piece of fudge in our room in arrival, Nespresso coffee machine with biscuits, and Netflix on the TV. The Penn was in the perfect location, right in the middle of Windermere with lots of restraunts, pubs and cafes close by. We walked to Bowness which took around 25 minutes, a lovely little walk. Grasmere was only a 20 minute drive away, Ambleside was around 15 minutes. We will 100% be staying at The Penn again! It is a perfect base for a trip to the Lakes.

Clean. Nice breakfast. Access to the offsite spa facilities was very good for a rainy afternoon - very nice swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Holly Lodge is absolutely beautiful! We were so impressed with everything from the beautiful room, the wonderful breakfast choices and the friendly staff. We will definitely visit again! The spa facilities are only a short drive away and we had access to the gym, the sauna, steam room, swimming pool and jacuzzi. The location is perfect for walking, visits to Bowness and other local beauty spots.

Really lovely B & B just a few minutes walk into the centre which had plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants It’s also near the Orrest Head walk with spectacular views. We ate at Tapios one night for delicious tapas and highly recommended them. Our second night we ate at The Pig ( name changed to Tilly’s ) and had their Cajun chicken burger… yummy! We opted for a full English breakfast which was not the biggest one I’ve had but cooked fresh and nicely presented and the option of cereal and toast as well Our room (2) on the first floor at the front had a lovely window seat which was lovely to sit on and read for a bit. It was also very spacious and clean. And lastly the icing on the cake was the use of the pool at the local leisure centre which was literally a 5 minute drive. We spent a couple of hours in there both days and had the place virtually to ourselves !! The jacuzzi, steam room and pool were amazing. Thank you so much for providing a break that was sheer relaxation

The room was lovely and spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained. The bed was so comfortable, soft and lovely duvet and pillows. Very handy shower cap and soaps available in the bathroom. Check in, breakfast order, check out all so easy and smooth. Breakfast was delicious with a perfect amount and refills of coffee, tea and juices.

Everything was perfect for our stay at the Coach house. The room we booked was the River Lodge ,a self catering cosy and beautiful room, that leads to a private balcony ,overlooking a lovely forest and soothing water stream . The sound of water flowing and the view we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. Our hosts Mark was absolutely welcoming and went out of his way to make our stay, as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The self catering room was perfect, with a lovely modern shower , sink and toilet. The kitchen very modern too, with the essential appliances for self catering, although we always dined out . Take only what you need for breakfast, as the location of the Coach House is within walking distance of restaurants. In summary, this was the perfect holiday for us. Peace and quiet with all what we required. Being looked after by our perfect hosts, and within walking distance to all this place has to offer.

My stay at The Coach House was truly delightful - I loved it! The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and so comfortable - it truly felt like home. The peaceful river behind the house added a lovely touch, especially falling asleep to the sound of flowing water. Breakfast was great, and the hosts, Emma and Mark, were amazing - friendly, helpful, and full of great local tips. The location is perfect for exploring the Lake District. I left feeling refreshed and enervised. Definitely coming back!

We got a very friendly welcome and even though an hour earlier let us check in and access our room! We met Emma and Mark. Super friendly and good advice for us on our first trip to Windermere. thanks . Will definitely be booking again. We stayed in room 4. this is a lovely picturesque peaceful house. No loud music or crashing and banging from other guests. One of the most peaceful and chilled places I have had the pleasure in staying.

From the description I thought the room and bed were going to be small so it was a pleasant surprise to see how spacious it was and that the bed was bigger than a single. - Very warm and welcoming hosts who I had a lovely chat with and were so helpful with my needs such as parking provision and an earlier breakfast - Continental Breakfast served in your room every morning - The location was so convenient. Thé location was perfect- not too busy, but between two lively towns so easy to get to either. There was a great pub in walking distance with delicious food, and beautiful woods to walk in just around the corner. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was perfect for me - I chose a healthy breakfast with lots of coffee, but there was loads of choice. I got excellent advice on places to go that were a bit quirkier than the usual hotspots.
