All the reviews make complete sense when you arrive. At first it feels like the hotel is away from all the action in a quiet street but actually it’s in a great spot. The local no. 2 tram will take you almost anywhere you need to go, and there are plenty of local restaurants and shops. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the balcony is nice. It felt so quiet and relaxing to stay here.

Amazing hotel in Hiroshima. Every staff we´ve met were incredibly friendly, rooms are spacious, super clean, beds comfortable, coin laundry machines and dryers available on the ground floor, ice dispenser and coffee in the morning for free. Every day you receive a new bag full of towels, coffee and tea and amenities, which is a nice touch. Short walk to tram station, supermarkets and Peace memorial park. Highly recommend staying in this hotel.

If I could rate this hotel higher, I would. Everything exceeded my expectations, from the warm welcome and hospitality of hotel staff to the location of the hotel in a quiet and convenient residential neighborhood (please note that the hotel is within walking distance to the Peace Park and restaurant options; within three-minute walking distance to a grocery store (Fuji) stocked with fresh fruits, hot food, and seafood bowl options, among others; and within three-minute walking distance to the nearest streetcar station, with direct routes to Hiroshima Station as well as the ferry station to Miyajima island). I was also thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness and size of the room, which had two queen-sized beds, a lounging area, a working area, as well as clean, modern decor. The most impressive to me was the helpfulness of the Japanese staff - they were always willing to help, communicative, and approachable. I see myself going back to Hiroshima soon (as a first-time visitor, I loved the city and wished I stayed longer). I am definitely booking this hotel again.

The room was spacious, clean and well-maintained, even the bathroom was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the amenities were great. The location was perfect - close to the city centre and attractions. Near the bus stop the electric car stop and there’s a convenience store nearby where you can use the vouchers given by the hotel when you check in.

Hotel is modern, comfortable and clean. We all said we'd had our best night's sleep there during our tour around Japan. Located in a quiet road which is a comfortable walk to the Atomic Bomb Dome. Tram stops nearby. Staff were very helpful.

This was the best hotel during our whole stay in Japan. The room was huge which was extremely rare for Japan. Amazing views from the hotel. The onsen was amazing too with nice views and perfect temperature. Breakfast was more typical of a Thailand hotel which was a good thing. Staff were easy to communicate with too.

We had a wonderful stay at Candeo. The staff was friendly and helpful during checkin. The location is convenient and could easily get around from the nearby tram stations. The rooms were as expected and comfortable. We enjoyed the public baths which were spacious and clean. Would love to return again in the future.

Centrally located with plenty of public transportation access and surrounded by lovely dining options. The room was spacious (for Japan), clean, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The view from the reception is quite wonderful.

A new (at least it gave that impression) hotel near the Onomichi station. The welcome was warm, friendly and professional. The room was spacious by Japanese standards with high quality bed linen and bathroom facilities. There was complimentary tea/coffee in the reception area which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our brief stay with the view directly over the harbour.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The apartment was big and comfortable, and we were very close to the train station as well as nice restaurants.

Short walk (10 minutes) from Yokogawa Station which is only two stops from Hiroshima station for Shinkansen connections, but is a hub in its own right for two street-car routes, which then connect into others for transfers to all around the city. Being slightly away from the central city, the location was nice and quiet.

The neighbourhood is quiet, there is a convenience store and a real big supermarket nearby. You need around 10 minutes to the tram station. The check-in is quite simple, just follow the instruction on the tablet in the lobby (tipp: as you reach the page with the locker code, make a quick photo because the page dissapers quite fast). The room was exactly as on the photos. Read all the instructions in a small brochure, the WiFi passwort is also there. The flat looks a bit old but it is clean and neat, and one finds almost everything one needs including a washing machine and an iron. The balcony was a cherry on top. Note: There are no chairs, just a couch on the floor level (at least in our flat). Might be a problem for some elderly people (was not an issue for us thou).

Location is pretty good, the centre of the city is easily walkable. The place was small but clean, the bed was comfortable, and the area is very quiet especially at night. We slept well and enjoyed our stay.

The location was okay, a bit of a long walk from most places, but pretty close to the memorial park, the museum, and the ferry to Miyajima Island. You get your own apartment for a few nights at a reasonable price, which is great, and it comes with all the amenities, so you feel pretty comfortable and independent. The check-in process was straightforward for me; they send instructions beforehand, though I can see how it might be tricky if you don’t understand English. The landlord (or whoever communicates through the app) was clear and responded promptly. The apartment was clean and modern, with towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, and an AC with heater provided. . There’s also a washing machine with a dryer function, though the dryer is built-in and didn’t dry clothes very well. There’s a supermarket nearby where you can pick up day to day supplies and better meals at more reasonable prices than the convenience stores.

The apartment is big and spacious with 2 double beds and 2 single beds. 1 double bed and 2 single ones are in the main open space area and there is 1 separate bedroom with a double bed. There is an equipped kitchen (no table but a coffee table), fridge freezer, microwave. The bathroom is clean, there is a washing machine and a balcony. It's very practical. It's 5mins walk from the streetcar (tram) and 6mins walk to the Dome. The location is perfect to visit the Peace Memorial Museum/Park/atomic Dome/hypocenter. It takes about 20mins to walk to the nearest JR line that takes you to Miyajima Ferry where there are boats every 10-15 mins to the island. It was very convenient for us. The owner is very kind, helpful and speaks English. He contacted me via WhatsApp with clear instructions for check in/check out, which I thought was much easier for me as I couldn't always have access to my online messages. We had a great stay.

Location is pretty much perfect. Peace memorial park is right around the corner and city center is within walking distance, too. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, responded quickly and was helpful for my inquiries.

Great communication with the host. Clear instructions and clean place. It was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay and even more. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped, so I could cook. It was also very nice having some extra towels and washing detergent. The location is perfect - walking distance to the Peace Memorial Park, nice coffee shops, also 24h supermarkets and convenience stores. It was also only around 15 minutes by bus (bus stop is only 4 min away from the apt.) to get to Mitaki-dera which I highly recommend visiting. Overall, we have a great time staying in this apartment. Highly recommend! PS. There is a vending machine with drinks right next to the entrance to the building.

Amazing location an easy walk from the Peace Park, a river, and many of the historic sites in Hiroshima. Quiet apartment with private bedroom + beds in separate area of common living room, balcony with clothes drying rack, washing machine, and small but well-equipped kitchen wall unit. A/C units in both bedroom areas was super important because it was so hot when we were there. Well-equipped Japanese-style shower and separate toilet room. Closets for clothes in both bedroom areas. Short walk to grocery stores and convenience stores.

It was like a home. Very comfortable and it’s conveniently located at the War Memorial Museum we wanted to see. The walk along the river is extremely peaceful. We saw the Hiroshima Carps play and the host and baseball jerseys framed on the wall. It was all perfect.

We stayed in the deluxe room with a private onsen (spa bath). The setup of the room was fantastic with a small shower before the onsen to quickly hop in and out of the bath throughout the day. The location is a 5 minute walk from the water which means it's nice and quiet away from the bars. It's also a short walk to the Itsukushima Jinja. We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both were fantastic all you can eat buffets and with our room we had a special hot plate of abalone and vegetables cooked at our table which was delicious. The onsen was already being filled by the time we got to our room and operated without issue while we were there. Room had plenty of amenities and the drinks in the mini bar were all complimentary. There are plenty of good places to eat near by and a convince store within the hotel. I'm unsure why this place has as low of a rating as it does. It was a fantastic stay and I wished we stayed longer.

The room is spacious with our own private open air bath inside. Luxurious dinner dinner and breakfast with a lot of options (much more than any buffet dinner we ever have)

It was pure luxury. It was the most expensive accommodation we stayed at during our Japanese holiday, but worth every cent. We were in the largest sized room the hotel offers and had a private hot tub on the verandah and views of both foliage and water. We chose to have dinner and breakfast there. It was buffet and an extremely reasonable price. The food was excellent. I would recommend getting a taxi from the ferry terminal to the hotel, especially if you have luggage as it's up a steep incline and a fair walk from the ferry. The taxi fare is a set ¥660. Our limited Japanese was tested as there were no instructions for tv / air conditioner etc in English, but considering we are in Japan that's understandable. It would be the ideal place for a romantic getaway, but we also enjoyed it for our family holiday. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was large and the futon very comfortable. The Onsen was peaceful clean and so relaxing. The dinner buffet was excellent with many delicacies and excellent value.

The hotel is lovely, nice breakfast and dinner, great location, the island is wonderful if it doesn't rain excellent to explore in wet weather not so good we had one sunny day one wet day, nice bath on balcony, friendly & helpful staff

Very clean tidy and a genuine Japanese style and size apartment stay. Nice beds. Great A/C to keep warm as it was cold outside. Nice to have the kitchen to cook basic meals, and toaster oven to toast Japanese bread 🤩 Clean safe building. Easy access. Good elevator. Convenience store right across the road. Great location for exploring the Hiroshima landmarks. A couple of mins walk to the Peace Park. Very very good overall.

The location is absolutely fantastic. It is located about 2 minutes away from the Peace Park and all the museums, as well as a boat to Miya Jima. You couldn't ask for a better location. The kitchen had everything you would need for a short visit. The beds were big and there was plenty of room for 4 people to live comfortably. The beds were comfortable and the shower was strong. The apartment is a little old but very clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

Enough space for two couples plus a 5 year old. AC worked a treat, apartment was clean. Very close to the Peace Museum and not too far from the castle by foot. Really close to a convenience store for breakfast :) Bus stops and trains are close by. Washing machine was amazing to have available to us.

We booked the room with breakfast and dinner included, and we were so happy to have done so! Both meals were very substantial, and we had different meals each time (not the same food for for the second dinner/breakfast). The local specialty oysters were huge and we particularly enjoyed the sea bream sashimi and tempura (in season when we visited). There were not many local restaurants open for dinner so getting dinner provided by the hotel is a major plus. We attended meals in yukata which also added to the atmosphere! The location was great, easy walking to the shrine and all rooms seem to have a view of the great Torii and pagoda. Also close to the aquarium. Plenty of free roaming deer around our area as it is a little less populated than the main shopping/food area. There is an indoor onsen available to all guests but we did not use them because there is a bookable outdoor onsen which is nicely done up and also has views of the Torii. Staff were very helpful and friendly, providing shuttle service to/from the ferry port and insisting on helping with our bags (even though they were quite elderly!) We are definitely recommending this ryokan to all our friends/relatives thinking of travelling to Miyajima :)

The view from our room was amazing. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was welcoming and my three children loved the way we were served tea on our arrival and the yukatas that were just their size. My son has several food allergies and they were able to accommodate him for dinner and breakfast. The food was excellent and abundant and my kids loved the kids meals while I enjoy the traditional Japanese meals. The private bath was a lovely treat after a climb on Mt Misen. The futons were comfy and the room was spacious and it was so nice to return to our room after dinner and have our futons ready. .The luggage pickup from the ferry terminal and the shuttle ride back at the end of our stay were so helpful! It was a splurge but well worth it!

I booked this hotel for my parents. When I asked questions by email, their staff reply very quick and kind. My parents were really happy about all the service they got, enjoyed the bath, dinner and breakfast. I booked ocean view room for them, they said the view was amazing from the room, and also they could even enjoy the night view from the dinner place. Seemed like all the staff there is very kind and friendly, they felt very warm inside and they had an amazing stay.

Everything was great. We used the service to pick up our luggage from the luggage storage, and explored our way up to the beautiful hotel location on foot. The staff were welcoming. Dinner was both beautiful and delicious, and it was great to be able to book the bath for a relaxing private bath. The rooms were spacious, pretty, relaxing, and quiet with an amazing view!

Highly recommend if you want to experience a ryokan stay. Customer service is incredibly amazing, they drove us to from the Miyajima ferry terminal, they helped us carry our luggages in and they even helped us to clean the luggages with wet wipes while we were checking in. They also gave us a mini room tour with welcome drink/snack. The view was incredible with a clear ceiling to floor glass window. Complimentary slippers/pyjamas/yukata/cleansing oil/shaving cream/shaver/toothbrush&toothpaste/conditioner. The futon bed is very comfortable but the blanket is a little thick. We also purchased the half board option with dinner and breakfast. The meal preparation is very meticulous and a lot of thought and effort is being made into the appearance of the dishes. We had a meal while enjoying the sunset view of the Torii gates which is amazing. The dinner was ten courses and the portion is just right such that it doesn’t make you overly full or remain hungry.

The guest house is amazing. Our traditional Japanese room was big and had an amazing view of the garden and sea. The guest house is very clean, the offered dinner and breakfast delicious, the personnel very kind and the cat super sweet! We also used the private bath, which was a great experience. In the common room you can also find various games and japanese activities, like paper for origami. Miyajima is a magic and stunning place, and the Mikuniya guest house is the perfect base to explore the island.

We spent two nights on the island, and it was absolutely amazing! In the evenings, after all the tourists have left, you can take a peaceful walk near the water and feel like you have the entire island to yourself. The guest house we stayed at was fantastic! Traveling with our 5-month-old, we felt incredibly welcomed. Our room was huge, especially compared to other accommodations in Japan, and the common area downstairs was spacious and inviting. They offered a mini buffet for both breakfast and dinner, which was just perfect for us. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back. The guest house is conveniently located halfway between the ferry terminal and the gondola. In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely walk through the park to the gondola and managed to beat the crowds. Highly recommend! They also has two onsen options which you essentially book just for your family.

The traditional Japanese room was comfortable and offered an authentic experience that made my trip even more memorable. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and having vegan meals was especially appreciated in a country where meat or fish are found in most cuisine. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. They truly went above and beyond when I accidentally left a shirt behind, and they kindly arranged to post it all the way back to me in Ireland. I would highly recommend Miyajima Guest House to anyone looking for a warm and unforgettable stay in Japan!

The overall experience was incredible and exceeded our expectations. The staff was very nice and friendly, the room and the communal spaces were clean and spacious, nicely decorated in a traditional Japanese style. The breakfast and dinner were simple but very good and very much appreciated. The view to their garden was astonishing, and the sento they propose was nice and calm, with a quick view to a very tiny garden.

Fabulous little traditional inn located up the hill a bit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the family room which was two tatami rooms overlooking the gorgeous garden. We all enjoyed the experience of sleeping on the floor. There aren’t restaurants available at night here but the accommodation provides a simple dinner and breakfast. The dinner was curry, rice and miso and was really delicious. We enjoyed wandering the streets in the area and would have loved more time here to explore the local shops in the backstreets (not the main market street). Staying overnight gave us the opportunity to see the shrine lit up and night. It was low tide while we were there and it was beautiful to experience it with only a few other people. The evening was beautiful and quiet and the morning brought the hustle and bustle of the crowds. There is a private onsen which can be booked for 50 minutes and was lovely to soak after a long day of exploring. The staff were kind and welcoming and I would highly recommend a stay here. It was a fabulous experience all round.

We stayed as a family of four in a combination of western and japanese style room for one night and had the traditional japanese dinner and breakfast. The kids weren't keen on the japanese style dinner and breakfast, however that was my fault for not ordering the kids meal options. As adults, we found the food to be delicious and very well presented. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were amazing....they were very attentive and helpful. Highly recommend the Miyajima Grand Hotel.

Our room was WONDERFUL - huge, very pretty, squeaky clean, super comfortable. It had an outside deck with spectacular mountain and ocean views, including the Torii gate. We had a blast just exploring the room (and hotel) and checking out the amenities! The included kaiseki dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious! One of our guests had dietary restrictions (due to celiac); the staff was incredibly accommodating with careful attention to detail. Her meals were just as beautiful and tasty as everyone else's. Every single person on the staff was friendly, welcoming and gracious. Our stay at the Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto was unanimously the highlight of our time in Japan!

Our room was spacious, serene, and perfect for unwinding after exploring the island. The traditional Japanese meals were exceptional — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The whole experience struck a perfect balance between luxury and homeliness: elegant, yet never pretentious. Every little detail made us feel welcome and comfortable.
