Just back from a wonderful long weekend in Bilbao. Travelled from Cork to Bilbao airport on Friday-quick convenient flight just 1 hour 30 minutes got 3247 bus to city and took taxi to hotel. Quick efficient check in very friendly and helpful. 77 bus to old town, mercado or city centre right outside the hotel door runs every 15 minutes. Hotel is 3 or 4 stops to mercado and old town for lunch or brunch or evening pintxos. Lovely breakfast or pint is in the hotel bar- great friendly service for coffee, tea or croissants also. Large clean rooms with lovely shower and en-suite. Very comfortable twin beds and air con in room. Very highly recommended. Bilbao is a wonderful friendly city with lots to see and do- Guggenheim museum is a highlight also went to an Athletic Bilbao match, walking tours of new and old town, boat trips up the river, great food, short hop on a bus to San Sebastián great break. Easy access by car from and to the highway , clean , spacious room , excellent staff , comfortable beds , strong WiFi , clean and large bathroom , water refill fountains in the hallways including sparking water , available parking in the hotel and at public parking behind it (with fees ), easy access to old city by walking and close bus stop . The breakfast buffet is exceptional , one of the best I tried in spain, freshly prepared dishes , variety and flavors. The bakery at the restaurant and the coffee shop deserve a special recognition!

We loved our room here - it was very spacious, funky decor and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also spacious and looked very modern. Parking is available in the hotel (extra cost) but access is very tight and we had a smallish car. It is a 10-15 minute walk down the hill to get the “old town” which has lots of restaurants/bars etc. Getting back is uphill. It is conveniently located to the freeway, but there is not much in the immediate vicinity in terms of shops, restaurants etc. If you are arriving by car - this is a great hotel to stay at. Staff at reception were incredibly friendly and always greeted us whenever we came in or went out - much appreciated. Another big positive is that there are water refill stations on each floor - so you can refill your water bottles as needed - chilled filtered water which was much needed during the hot weather - a very practical way to be eco-friendly saving all those plastic bottles ending up in landfill !

Lovely hotel in excellent location for getting around Bilbao. Everywhere in walking distance.Bus stop outside if needed. Clean, bright and spacious rooms with large bathroom. Friendly staff, we didn't have breakfast but restaurant very good one evening. Bar prices very good and staff interacted. Coffee pod machine in room replenished daily and fresh chilled water free in corridor appreciated

Spacious and comfortable room. It was spotless clean. The breakfast buffet was impressive, with live cooked pancakes, tortillas, eggs. The gym is spacious with modern machines

Hotel Carlton is lovely. If you want to read a book in the lobby, there are many comfortable areas to sit in. The bar/cafe is right there for a cup of tea of a drink and snack. My room was beautiful, with a comfortable chair, good pillows and quite a nice bathroom! The staff was very helpful to me. The location is good, walkable to the Guggenheim and the Old Town. The Metro is steps away from the hotel, and you can take it to the beach in Getxo. The Metro is clean and easy. The food in the neighborhood was great. Bilbao is an easy city to visit, very walkable. I loved walking across the bridges.

Uplifted elegant feeling in the architecture, design and interiors. Beautiful creative fresh flowers spacious salons for reading or relaxing. Room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was great with very attentive staff. All staff attentive and accommodating.

Centrally placed; the old town is 15 minutes walking distance away. There are a lot of restaurants within a short walk. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with an excellent bathroom and shower. The public areas are superb and very spacious. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Our car was parked in the secure underground car park but it was quite expensive.

Perfect location to visit all areas of Bilbao. Plus from the airport on public bus took just 15 minutes. Hotel is fabulous, room 619 was enormous, luxurious and the bed was so comfortable. Room with city view and very quiet. Balcony had fantastic views of the city.

Loved its location, so central, everything was walkable. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the rooms huge, the shower fab! The breakfast was amazing, a wide variety of options & the breakfast room was run like clockwork.

The staff were super helpful and very dog friendly. There is a very large car park right next to the hotel with wonderful views toward Bilbao. The food menu in the restaurant and the choice of wines offered were very good and very reasonably priced. There was an extensive range of food available for breakfast. Our bedroom was larger than ones offered in modern hotels.

Beautiful location and a very stylish hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Restaurant dinner was very good. On-site parking and easy drive into Bilbao. Would recommend to anyone visiting Bilbao but not wanting to stay in town. Nice café on site in addition to the main restaurant very comfortable bed and quality linen.

fantastic old palace converted to hotel with massive rooms. Very clean despite the age of the plaster and brickwork. amazingly modern beautifully tiled bathroom. Ours was the budget option and yet it was so big, I only realised there was also a shower behind the bath on the second day. Shower was warm and powerful. Good and generous supply of bath products, bath towels and robes. Lovely helpful team in reception. Driving range is not cheep (3$ for 22balls) but fun and they lend you clubs. Good and enormous mattress. Really close the the airport. Bilbao town is about 15min drive.

A very comfortable stay in a beautiful building, within driving distance of Bilbao. We stayed in the quadruple and double room- both were very large, the quadruple with a great view of the mountains, and the double with a cute patio. The hotel is very pet friendly- with a dog bed and bowl provided in the room, and the bar (where delicious meals are served) allows pets. A special shout out to the staff- who were super friendly and very accommodating!

Everything! The room is warm, cozy, and has plenty of natural light and the shower is hot! The owner is so friendly and pays attention to detail. It’s only a 20 minute drive to Bilbao which is perfect for visiting during the day or for dinner but then you get to come home to a lovely country cottage and wake up to rolling green hills. It’s also just a short drive to the coast in the north and to Guernica. I highly recommend staying here!

Great location facilities were everything you needed. Comfortable beds, spotlessly clean. Great check in we will definitely stay again, we only stayed one night as catching the ferry back to Ireland only 25 minutes from the location. We had a very comfortable stay and loved the goats that they keep. I can thoroughly recommend this for a quiet peaceful stay .

The bed was so comfortable the host was very friendly. The room was nice and the atmosphere was amazing.

Picturesque view all around this beautiful country house 15 min by car from Bilbao. I loved the garden, the equipment, the peace and quiet, the service and the lovely dog of the house. Its on a valley and you can sometimes see horses roaming freely on the next estate. It was such an enriching experience.

The house is located in the mountains 20 minutes from Bilbao, the road is so beautiful! We had a warm welcome and enjoyed the comfortable room. Breakfast was excellent!

We stayed here before an early flight from Bilbao and couldn’t have chosen a better place. The rooms were comfortable, the surroundings very pleasant, and everything was spotlessly clean. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful—even in good spirits despite Athletic Bilbao’s loss that evening! We truly appreciated the hospitality and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

An amazing place to stay — I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bilbao! First of all, the location is excellent: it’s very close to the metro station and situated in a quiet residential area, which feels very safe. Secondly, the house is incredibly clean — you can literally see the floor shine. My friend and I both agreed this is the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed in. Even the bathroom was spotless, and the bed in the room was very comfortable. The shared space on the ground floor is also well-designed, with a cozy living room and a large terrace. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped too. Most importantly, the host is extremely friendly and helpful. He provided all the check-in details carefully, communicated patiently, and made it clear that we should contact him if we encounter any problems. All in all, this is truly a fantastic place to stay. Five stars from me!

We had a great stay. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom spacious and clean, even had two sinks, which is perfect as the room fits up to 5 people. Location close to the airport and parking for free next to the house. We also used the common kitchen, which was well-equipped. Hosts were super welcoming.

The accommodation was perfect exactly what I needed - welcoming, clean, comfortable, a 10-minute taxi ride to Bilbao airport. The owner was delightful, warm and friendly, and took me to the airport himself.

- nice and clean apartment in the old centre with an amazing combination of old and modern (we just loved it) - great internet connection - walking distance to shops, restaurants... - the host was very nice and helpful, she gave us a lot of information of things to do, where to eat...

The apartment looks better in real life than in the pictures and is pretty spacious and made for a very comfortable stay for a family of 4. Nice touches from the host also made our stay that bit more comfortable such as having kids books and toys in the boxes below the TV, a Nespresso machine with pods, a packet of welcome cookies which were appreciated on our arrival. There was also a topped up travel card for our use which came in handy when the kids were tired and wanted to try the tram or underground. The card worked well as a tap and go and we just topped it back up for the next guest. The location was also great at the back of old town which meant we were close to the bustle but not in it this also had the benefit of having locals amenities nearby like a supermarket and neighbourhood bars and pintxos; I liked Maite Taberna which is just up the hill and like most of Bilbao near a play park which was great for us. We stayed here for 4 nights and Bilbao for 5 in total and there was a surprising amount to do that I don't feel I have done it all and would come back just for the pintxos bars.

Perfect location to explore Bilbao's Casco Viejo and surroundings. The beds are indeed comfortable and the apartment is also very spacious. One can also use the many different kitchen facilities to prepare breakfast and so on.

This apartment is in a really convenient location to allow you to explore the area. The host was extremely helpful and available throughout our stay. We had an issue booking a return transfer to the airport, and Ines (the host) arranged a taxi for us instead which was really appreciated as we had struggled to get hold of any taxis that could help. There were goodies left for us (fresh bread, butter, jams, tea, coffee, cookies) which were unexpected. We had a great stay.

The apartment is in the city center, 10m walk from Plaza nueva and its restaurants. Place was at the ground floor, clean, with a very spacious kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is very well furnished. Bedroom were reasonably big and comfortable. Despite being close to the city center, during night was remarkably quite.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Artist Grand Hotel of Art in Bilbao, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. My room was spacious and beautifully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the city and museum. Waking up to that view was a highlight of the trip. The rooftop terrace was another gem—perfect for a quiet coffee in the morning or a cocktail at sunset with panoramic views. The staff were warm and professional, and the overall atmosphere was sophisticated yet welcoming. If you love art, design, and exceptional comfort, I highly recommend staying at The Artist Grand Hotel of Art. It's more than a hotel—it's an experience.

Great Stay with Stunning Views We stayed at *The Artist Grand Hotel of Art* in Bilbao in early August 2025 for a weekend trip — my two teenage boys and I — and had two rooms with spectacular views of the Guggenheim Museum. Check-in was excellent: valet took care of the car and luggage, we got an upgrade thanks to credit card perks, and early check-in made things even easier. Rooms were comfortable, well-designed, and had bathtubs we loved after long days out. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a highlight — fresh, complete, à la carte or buffet, with stunning city views. Housekeeping was top-notch, including an evening turndown with whimsical touches and aromatherapy for sleep. The front desk team answered every question with enthusiasm, and special thanks to Paz in housekeeping and Alex at the bar for their warmth and attention. Dinner at *The Gallery* was excellent without breaking the bank, even though the menu also caters to high-end tastes. One drawback: the windows need better soundproofing. The square in front of the hotel sometimes hosts protests or street musicians, and even when fully closed, the windows let in noticeable noise due to a gap between the frame and the pane. Verdict: Wonderful service, comfort, and views — fix the windows and it’s near perfect. ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

Our stay at this hotel was incredible. We’ve come during the off season so rates were extremely reasonable for what you get. We came in the middle of a long vacation and we’re exhausted. Access to the steam and sauna rooms at all times was very relaxing and made us ready for the rest of our trip. The proximity to the Guggenheim is un paralleled and even though we stayed in an interior room, we were very easily able to experience the grandness of the rooftop for daily breakfast and afternoon cocktails and snacks. Additionally, the location is perfect with great restaurants very near. The staff were very professional, friendly, and attentive. Our room was perfectly clean and seemed very new. The bathrooms were very clean and we loved the dual shower heads, his and her sinks, and the dual bidet and toilet combination. The concierge was extremely helpful, getting us reservations and taxis when we needed.

We loved the convenience of the 2 minute walk to the Guggenheim . It was a nice hotel. Was Clean modern Quiet with extremely comfortable bed and pillows . The shower was full blast hot and perfect ! Fantastic roof top bar with views of the amazing flower dog ! We only stayed one night but the staff was very friendly and helpful ! Would definitely recommend ! Dinner at Michelin sushi KUMA was outstanding , ice cream at Amorino super yum (get the dark chocolate sauce for $1 extra , just do it !) We walked everywhere including down to the old town which was a nice 20 minute walk amongst beautiful buildings !

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Bilbao during our trip. The location couldn’t be more perfect—it’s directly across the street from the Guggenheim Museum, which is an absolute must-see! Having such an iconic landmark right outside the door made the experience even more special. Our room was cozy and comfortable, with a great bed, bright and clean bathroom, and décor that felt modern yet welcoming. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a must with daytime temperatures reaching the mid-80s. It was also very quiet at night, and we felt completely safe with the secure key fob system for accessing the floors. We used the hotel’s garage and loved the convenience of the in-and-out valet service—it made moving around the city incredibly easy. On top of that, the staff provided excellent service throughout our stay, making us feel very well cared for. Bilbao itself is an amazing town, and this hotel made exploring it even better. Between the unbeatable location, comfortable rooms, and thoughtful service, it was the perfect base for our trip. Highly recommend!

Exceptional location in Old Town, but still quiet and comfortable. Very modern and clean. Friendly helpful staff, with great restaurant suggestions. Comfortable bed (“double”= 2 twin beds pushed together so plenty of room). Staff upgraded us to a room with a street view + balcony, a very nice surprise.

This location is excellent for the old part of the city, the river, the river cruises, the arenal park, St Nicholas Baroque Church the railway station, the underground/metro station, the gog railway and the Guggenheim as well as plenty of bars cafes restaurants etc and there are good smaller shops in the same street including a pharmacy opposite the hotel. There is even a gourmet Basque cheesecake shop nearby. The hotel has its own restaurant (Calzados La Palma named after the shoe shop this used to be there) we didn't take the full breakfast but instead just ordered coffee, orange juice and croissant at the bar. Later we used the bar for a drink to start the night before dinner elsewhere. Crucially this is near Plaza Nueva where there is a lot of day and night life lots of places to eat and drink. Bedrooms are contemporary and the halls and stairs are boutiquey and cosy! Cant get a better location and comfort for the money!

Lovely hotel, so central to the city & all the sites. Great room, comfortable, spotlessly clean & quiet despite being in the city centre. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were so friendly, helpful & attentive. Rosa stands out for particular mention- she could not have been more attentive & helpful with tips for our onward journey to San Sebastián. She even booked our bus tickets for us! On our return journey when we stayed again in Bilder Boutique, she remembered us, despite all the numbers of guests who must pass through your doors. This is an absolutely amazing hotel in Bilbao. The hotel is perfectly located in the old town of Casco Viejo and is a short walk to the metro and ideal to walk over the bridge to the new area of the city Abando where there is a vast selection of shopping and El Corte Inglés department store. The hotel is walking distance to all the small pinxto bars and sights of the old town.Ribera market with its fantastic selection of food stations our favourite is cervecería Arambarri for pintxo’s and drinks with a buzzing atmosphere. The interior of the hotel is comfortable with modern clean and comfortable rooms.Maid service daily and rooms left immaculate on our arrival each day. The bed is super comfy and the shower was fantastic. The staff are all very friendly,polite and courteous and nothing is to much trouble for them with any help or advice you need for your trip. We could not believe this hotel is not more than a 2* as it is worth a lot more in our opinion compared to another competitor we stayed at last year.At least a 4*! We will be back again that’s for sure. A great big thank you staff at Bilder Boutique 😊

Amazing place to stay right next to the river. Location is great, you can walk to everything and it's also super close to the subway. Staff was incredibly helpful, giving tips on where to eat and how to get to places all the time. Super helpful! Amazing breakfast, they cater for gluten free (and it's great)! The beds are really comfortable and the room is really nice and big. Had an amazing time.

This modern boutique hotel is the best of old and new. Interiors are contemporary and comfortable and staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, quiet and comfortable and the entire hotel is immaculately clean. Front desk greeted us with complimentary glasses of cava on arrival and lots of helpful advice about where to go and what to do in the city. There are plenty of nice amenities in the rooms, including L’Occitane de Provence toiletries. Location is ideal, right next to Old Town and the river and 20-25 minutes walk to the Guggenheim. My only negative comments are about Bilbao itself. It’s a small city that seems to be trying to attract tourists, yet the shopkeepers and restaurant personnel were exceedingly unfriendly everywhere we went. No smiles, no effort to provide great service, lots of ignoring us or being downright rude. Not sure why we received such a negative reception. In San Sebastián, which is certainly over -touristed, we were met with friendly smiles and over the top hospitality. Outside of the hotel, the people of Bilbao left us feeling very much unwelcome.

This hotel was amazing from check in to departure. The location old town location is perfect. You can walk to shops, restaurants & many tourist sites. Don't feel like walking? The tram is a block away. The rooms are large for the EU. We had a king size bed! The amenities were top notch & the shower was the best. We had a river view room which was very quiet. Breakfast was delicious with many choices. With all that being said the one thing that stands out from all the rest is the staff. All of them were so helpful & friendly it made for a delightful stay.

The room, although it was the extra small version, was still very comfortable. Cozy bed with high thread-count sheets. In the bathroom, the overhead shower was luxurious, and I liked how the sink was spacious with trays built-in for easier organization of my things. It's perfect for most if you're doing solo travel. Easy access to Ola was also great, and being able to book a reservation right from the front desk was awesome. Staff, from the front desk, to the restaurant, bar, and room service were exceptional. All friendly and welcoming.

Great sized room with lovely modern/old decor (bricks were old but refurbished/enhanced with walls of concrete and glass). The bed was extremely comfortable, the view was not great considering the price and only a few feet from the windows in the building opposite, our room rate did not include breakfast or parking so both of those were at additional cost. Breakfast was either a la carte or 'complete' ('complete' included fruit bowl, juice, pastry and cooked breakfast but you could purchase any part of that on the a la carte from about 3 to 12 euros), parking was on the other side of the river from the hotel and 25 euros per night. We had dinner on our last night at the Michelin starred restaurant in the hotel - Ola - and were not disappointed. Very centrally placed in the old town of Bilbao so we managed to walk everywhere including to the Guggenheim Museum but disappointingly, the funicular railway was closed for repair. We booked a wine pairing and Pintxos tour on one of the evenings we were there and couldn't have been more pleased with the tour guide and company. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and restaurant despite the car park/prices and lack of a view.

We just got back from a long weekend in Bilbao and wanted to take the time for a review. If you are doubting where to stay in Bilbao, you should definitely choose Tayko. First and most importantly: the front desk staff is absolutely amazing. Super helpful, amazing tips to explore Bilbao, where to get the best pintxos and how to get to the beach. I forgot her name (apologies if you are reading this, I'm awful with names...), but she really made our trip as we came to Bilbao unprepared. She deserves a raise! :-) The hotel itself is very well located at the edge of the old town. It's next to a busy road and a tram stop, but you cant hear any noise of the street in the room and we had a room overlooking the street and river even. The room was very clean, perfect bed, lots of space. It's easy to get around town from the hotel as there's a tram stop right there and you walk straight into the old city center from the hotel. Breakfast was exceptionally good. We usually have breakfast outside of hotels in local bakeries but this one was worth staying in. The detox juice was particularly good. We also had lunch in the hotel-restaurant, which has a michelin star. Probably the best pork we ever had. All to say, stay here when you're in Bilbao!

I love walking up in the morning with this beautiful view. There is a 5 min by car location, Laudio, where you can find delicious restaurants and very affordable for us Dutch people. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious and clean. You get a necessity package for the bathroom, the glasses are wrapped up, so you know it's clean. For breakfast, you get 3 options, a quick meal, a light meal, and a healthy meal. There's an elevator to go to the top floor, which is nice since we had a lot of baggage with us. There is free parking in front of the hotel. The air here is so nice and clean.

Beautiful rural village location very close to Bilbao. Hotel listing says no parking however there is ample free street parking in the village so don’t let this put you off. Hotel is a family run business. Very comfortable, spacious, clean, tidy and modern rooms. Very comfortable beds and fantastic shower and bath. Beautiful scenery to wake up to. We cannot comment on breakfast or dinner as we did not have time on this occasion. We wish we had stayed for longer and would love to return. Excellent value for money

Rural hotel half hour outside Bilbao in a place called Orozko. But it's an excellent one. The room was clean and spacious, surroundings are fabulous and the owners were kind and made us feel welcomed. Modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. For breakfast we chose the top option and it was a smart choice, with a good coffe, an orange juice, some fresh croissants and some tasty fruits. Just amazing.

Lovely hotel in a tranquilsetting. Spotlessly clean, and, a huge bathroom. So very quiet at night. We slept soundly Breakfast was lovely, omelette, lots of fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, croissants and toast. Ariaz was very friendly and let us check in early,,sorry I didn't take more photos inside, we also had two bottles of water left every morning when the room was being cleaned. The bathroom had shampoo bodywash, shower caps, toothbrushes and even body lotion. Great place to stay

The hotel is perfect. We were there out of season. The breakfast 3rd option was plenty with a wonderful ham omelette fruit juice fruit toast and jams and plenty of very nice coffee. The room was spacious and perfectly presented at a good temperature, despite the cold weather, comfortable bed large shower with plenty o hot water. Arai and Mike were terrific hosts, very hard working and friendly.
