The apartment was truly exceptional. It boasted several key features that made our stay memorable: a seamless blend of modern interior decor within a historically significant building, a spacious balcony offering nice views, a central location, and wonderfully comfortable beds. It was an all-around perfect experience. Furthermore, its central location compensated for the absence of breakfast or dining facilities in the building, as we had numerous restaurants and coffee options in the vicinity. (there were free coffee capsules in the flat as well) For those seeking outdoor adventures, a short 20-minute drive would take you to waterfalls and natural pools, all accessible at no cost. What's more, I needed to work during my stay, and I was pleased to find a reliable internet connection and effective air conditioning, ensuring I could work comfortably during the day and then relish the local restaurants and sangria in the evenings. I look forward to returning to this beautiful place in the future! Probably bring the kids and choose the apartment with a whirlpool below us. It will be hard to get us out!

The hostess was super friendly, and the apartment was nice and cosy, with lot of sun and fresh air. The beds were comfortable, all the furniture was clean and new. I was excited to stay here, and hope will return back one day.

A very comfortable and spacious property close to old town. The balcony was great and had a fabulous view. All the amenities needed for a short or even extended stay. Good communication with staff.

Strong WIFI for remote travellers :) I loved everything about this apartment . Super clean , newly decorated, 2 tvs with netflix. You get 2 coffee capsules on arrival and bottle of water. Kitchen is fully equipped. Bed and bed liniens are top.

Perfect surroundings. Magnificent view from the apartment. Continental breakfast is perfect and very fresh. The Serra da Estrella natural park provides lots of trekking paths. In the Vila apartment you can enjoy a beautiful view while drinking wine in a jacuzzi :D The trekking during July might be hard due to high temperatures and due to high grass bushes on the path.

Quiet place to energize yourself with an amazing view, reading a good book next to the fireplace. Clean, cozy, and excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Loved the location, the hotel itself is so beautiful - a display of old and new so harmoniously combined - and have amazing views of the Serra. Also, the staff is very helpful and available. They recommended places to visit nearby as well as restaurants - one which we went to and had an amazing time! Overall a wonderful experience that we will certainly repeat!

The house is nicely located, having the sun rays the whole morning and an amazing view! And being able to have that view in the comfort of a fireplace was icing on the cake. We loved the breakfast, with great cheese and bread diversity. The staff was also really nice and helped us with restaurant recommendations. Also, being able to run the fireplace ourselves was really nice, we felt home!

A great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was modern, well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was really good with a very wide selection to choose from. The pool was brilliant (just take a swimming cap if you have one!) Good secure garage parking for our motorcycle.

I love this hotel! Whenever we need a place to stay in Covilha, we try to stay here. The staff is wonderful - helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The rooms are spotless and big. The bed is very comfortable. The breakfast is great. And the price is definitely ok!

The rooms were good size, modern and well equipped. The swimming pool and surrounding was great, bit too warm perhaps only as it's an indoor one. Staff was super helpful and got us a kettle so we could get some boiled water for the baby bottle. Breakfast was also one of the best we had in hotel accommodation.

we stayed in one of the sculptures. we liked having 100% privacy (no shared walls/floors/ceiling), the top open to the sky, the large shower, and the firm bed. The fridge was also handy for storing drinks we had bought at the grocery store. The pool was great for dangling feet and enjoying the amazing view. Highly recommend doing the "Ruta de pontes" hike for even better views. The breakfast is great, plenty of options. The dinner not so great, but the moscow mule was great.

The rooms themselves are excellent, clean tidy and well laid out, the staff are friendly and attentive....possibly a little too attentive on occasions: The checking process for example really does go above and beyond :) Locations is good, the facilities are good, the price of the room is good value and the restaurant serves good food.

Surprisingly nice hotel. You would think "can a cherry theme actually work?" and the answer is "Yes!" Great location with beautiful nature around. The staff are super nice. The dinner was one of the best we've had in Portugal - it is an actual restaurant although it is not advertised as such. Great breakfast as well. The room was comfy and amenities great.

The place is absolutely beautiful, the staff is super friendly and walked me through all the details I needed to know. I got the superior tent, which has a jacuzzi and great view! The food was superb and I couldn't be more pleased! I wish I could have afforded a longer stay, because I never wanted to leave! I'm definitely coming back on the summer!

Amazing 4 day stay in a very calm and relaxing environment. Very nice breakfast that helps you start the day with local cheese, smoked ham, fresh cut fruits, honey and of course, local cherries (a must in summer). Nice swimming pool with infinite views over the valey and Serra da Estrela. Lovely place to be on the hot summer days. The tends are prepared for rainy and cold days in winter with a fireplace. Mine also had a Jacuzzi that fits for two :-). Lunch and Dinner can be arranged if you book in advance. Very nice presentation and options (starters, appetizers, light food, fish and meat, vegie). Nice assortment of wines from local producers. Amazing staff. Feels like you know them for a while. You can bring kids but fits best for adult couples.

Long time we were trying to book and it was a amazing experience. The place was beautiful and infinity pool was a relaxing place to spend the time. The room was nice and clean and the view through Serra da Gardunha was amazing especially at the sunset time. The staff were very friendly and available all the time. Bruno explained everything about the property and made some suggestions about what to do / restaurants. Looking forward to come back again 😉

Wir hatten eine super schöne und erholsame Zeit im TheVagar. Wir haben neben einem sehr guten Frühstück, welches man sich am Tag zu vor immer neu zusammenstellt, auch das Abendessen sehr genossen. Wer einfach ein paar Tage abschalten will ist hier genau richtig. Hottub, Pool, Lagerfeuer am Abend, Massage alles was das Herz begehrt. Wir haben sogar noch spontan verlängert und eines der Shelters gebucht, die ebenfalls auf dem Gelände sind. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch.

Beautiful boutique hotel — very peaceful and quiet at night. It had very new stylish interiors and a comfortable, modern room. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I’d highly recommend staying here. It was such a treat to enjoy breakfast outside the room in the garden each morning — and the jams were absolutely amazing!

The hotel was beautifully refurbished. We like the fact that it is not a big commercial hotel and that it provides peace, comfort in a beautiful place. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly prepared morning with freshly squeezed juices and the best cheeses and delicious fresh yogurt, we chose the option to have it delivered to our room came in the cutest basket. There is also some spa services available. The owner Marta was very hospitable and accommodating and the staff are polite and very friendly. Our stay was very relaxing and with personal touch from Marta and of course very welcoming feel from Boneca, their dog.

The infinity pool area and wooden hot tub in the woods were amazing and relaxing—indeed, the attention to detail and harmony with nature were outstanding throughout the property. We had a fantastic experience at the hotel, especially enjoying the thermal pool – it was amazing! What stood out to us was the exceptional service, both by the pool and at the bar. The staff was attentive and friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. We also had a toast for dinner one evening, and it was delicious! The price was very reasonable for such great quality. Amazing place in a beautiful setting with super helpful staff who clearly take pride in this wonderful experience. Pools are lovely and relaxing with lots of different areas of bubbles / jets / saunas/ steam room etc. rooms are a good size and very comfortable. Food is amazing with lots of choices ( we are vegetarian) and the even the breakfast coffee tastes lovely! ( unusual!)

The hotel was stunning, a modern mountain vibe. The staff were extremely friendly and kind. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The pools are spectacular, we had seen a photo of these and that was why we visited. We were not disappointed, cave like steam rooms and saunas, multiple pools. The entire experience was extremely enjoyable and we will go back. I should also mention the bar food was to a very high standard, reasonable prices and large portions.

The facilities, amazing spa and dinner area. Food buffet is very good and lots of choice and variety between days. Kids were busy in the children club which is close to the restaurant area while adults could enjoy dinner.

Everything ! What a fantastic place! The view is stunning, the room is spacious, the balcony offered a beautiful view on the valley, the food incl breakfast and dinner were delicious, the massage was sooo relaxing and professionally made...the staff working in reception, SPA, waiters or waitresses, cleaners were all very polite, warm and welcoming too. And thank you also to the very friendly guy who took us twice hiking in the surroundings of the second Burrel hotel, he is mega friendly, knowledgeable and passionate of nature!

Beautiful hotel in the Serra da Estrela mountains. Our bedroom was nicely furnished and extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful (e.g. preparing us a packed lunch for our hike, ironing a shirt before dinner, reserving spa facilities). Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were delicious and we enjoyed stunning views. Highly recommended if you want a quiet break in nature (and worth the drive!)

We stayed two nights at this small mountain resort. A simply outstanding experience - we'd absolutely return in a heartbeat. This is a small (20 or so rooms) historic, but fully remodeled mountain lodge. The (re-)design is very modern yet warm, and centered around the local Burel (felt-like) fabric. Views from the rooms and restaurant are heavenly! The service is warm and friendly, yet professional and at 5 star level. The restaurant with dinner and breakfast amazed us given the small size of the hotel. As for activities, there are a few very nice mountain hikes close by. The well maintained in- and outdoor pool and sauna area is a real treat after a hike. We also participated in the tour of the nearby mid-size burel factory the hotel is affiliated with, and can highly recommend it - you get to see the end-to-end process how raw sheep wool is turned into the final product. One item to be aware of: the hotel is located in the "eye" of a switchback curve of a small country road. There isn't much traffic, but during day hours a car might pass by every few minutes or so. Overall, this has been so far the best hotel in Portugal that we have stayed in.

It was an amazing stay in the mountains. We regret that we booked only one night. The restaurant is incredibly tasty and the view is marvelous. Every particular detail is super beautiful and comfortable. The simple aesthetics are everywhere, and the staff are super nice and helpfull.

We had a beautiful view from our room and the dining room. We only stayed one night and I wish we had more time to enjoy our private balcony facing the town of Manteigas. Everyone was helpful and kind and made sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend the restaurant for dinner and make sure to try the Serra da Estrela cheese! The breakfast is fresh and varied. I highly recommend this hotel.

The breakfast was good, we loved the big balcony of our room with a pool view. The room was a good size and the bathroom was all we needed. There was a good ambiance in the hotel, it felt homely and comfortable. There is a restaurant in the hotel which we didn't use but it came highly recommended. The location was fab with stunning mountain views around us. Good outside terrace to enjoy a drink and the views.

Hotels is located on a hill overlooking the city of Manteigas and the hill/forest behind it. Room was spacious and clean with heating working properly (it was winter and drizzle / snow). Bed was comfortable. There's plenty of space for parking and the staff was very attentive and nice. The restaurant in the hotel gets busy for dinner, so if you want to eat there make sure to have a reservation. Breakfast was simple but good with a lot of products from the area (cheese, honey).

Very welcoming hosts. Although the room wasn’t huge the balcony was, which made storing our suitcases easy as the weather was fine. The swimming pool looked very inviting. The restaurant was excellent for dinner and for the included breakfast. There is also a comfortable guest lounge.

The Sport Hotel is located within easy walking distance of the town centre and the local bars & restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable, and being a multi-storey building they command stunning views over the town and local countryside. The en-suite bathrooms are fairly simple, but provide all that is required including an excellent shower. Breakfast was a self-serve buffet providing plenty of choice. As a motorcyclist I appreciated the option of being able to park my machine on the hotel forecourt under the watchful eye of the 24 hour staffed reception. I found the staff polite, friendly and always willing to help when asked. The Sport Hotel also represents truly exceptional value for money and I highly recommend it. Thank you...

Superb hotel,friendly staff,best breakfast anywhere,facilities to make your own hot drinks and meals. I used the gym to do my physiotherapy exercises and the sauna (or Turkish bath) to refresh myself,all included in the price. In summer you can use the pool at their sister hotel also no charge. Good wifi. Secure motorbike parking in view of the reception desk,it feels like a very safe town. Perfect location to explore the lovely mountain roads. All in all the best hotel for price and facilites on my trip,its my secound time staying here.

It is open 24/7 and very comfortable for any time checking. Bad are very comfortable and very clean room. Internet is very fast and breakfast is very delicious. For price it is great choice.

Wow modern very nice designed new hotel. Especially the bar and breakfast room they are very cozy furnished. We didn't want to move from there:-). We stayed 1 night in standard rooms but the hotel has also more room categories and even villas. In the courtyard is outdoor swimming pool with sun beds and also SPA with indoor pool and small fitness center. We were pleasantly suprised with this hotel especially therefore the city Covilha is not very nice and we didn't find it attractive for tourist. On the other hand it is good starting or end point after visiting mountain area, which is very nice. In the evening we have got aperitif in the beautiful hotel bar and Gourmet 4 Seasons dinner which was delicious and we had a chance to travel the region through pairing wine & food in this exceptional hotel. The hotel staff in each department is extremely polite and one of the reception even is Portugal speaks Czech, it was nice moment for us also.

This hotel was a jewel. It was beautiful and the staff was super friendly. Our room was spacious with incredible views. The spa and pool was peaceful and very chill. Breakfast was amazing and they have a highly rated restaurant attached that was truly fantastic. We had a wonderful stay and only a short drive to the most amazing scenery at Sera da Estrella park! Highly recommend staying at this hotel.

The hotel is very nicely decorated, giving a very cozy feeling and a bit of luxury. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The connection to the pool and spa area was super convenient, making it comfortable and easy to go back and forth from pool to room. The neighbouring restaurant, Açafrão was amazing, recommended by the hotel. We'll definately stay here again.

Lovely traditional town house, tastefully renovated with a modern twist. Deliciously fresh breakfast both mornings with good quality produce. It was very dog friendly which was a bonus for us. The staff were helpful and friendly and a credit to the hotel

I checked in online, so when I got to the hotel, I was given the key card to my room and the lady at the reception provided helpful information about the area. My room had a lovely view from the balcony The complimentary breakfast was nice and more like an English breakfast (really loved the coffee). They also had cereals and pastries. The hotel has a gym and sauna. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but is close to a mall that has a food court and retail stores like Continente.

Staff. The guys here were absolutely lovely. They spoke good English and were really friendly and helpful. Check in/out Very easy, no problems. Parking There's a big car park at the side of the hotel but fortunately we managed to park our motorcycle at the front of reception. Room The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and the room light and airy. There was a balcony but no chairs to sit on. Breakfast. Excellent continental breakfast.

Clean modern hotel with all the usual amenities. David on reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and arranged a local taxi for us on our second night, and recommended restaurants in the town centre. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The breakfast was very good offering a big choice.

Our stay at the Convento do Seixo was exceptional from the moment of our arrival (thanks, Flavio, from reception, for your dedication and kindness). A perfectly restored former 16th-century convent that preserves its historical essence without sacrificing modern comfort. The rooms were spacious, elegant, and very quiet, making them ideal for unwinding. We also enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool, which offered views of the surrounding mountains. It is also a Spa where I received a repairing circulatory massage (thanks, Vera, for your skills). The staff were very friendly and attentive at all times, always ready to help. The breakfast was excellent. The restaurant had excellent service (thanks, Cauan, for your attention and patience), well-presented dishes and surprising flavours. Undoubtedly, a place to repeat and recommend. Ideal for a quiet getaway with charm with your partner.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options and high-quality ingredients. Everything was spotless and impeccably clean. The spa was very quiet and peaceful, providing a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. We visited twice and had the space entirely to ourselves, which made it even more enjoyable.

The room we had was amazing and spacious, and we especially loved the large bathroom. The staff was very understanding with our travel delay, and they held our dinner reservation as well. Thank you! The breakfast selection was very good, though the breakfast area was a bit crowded when we were there. We didn’t have a lot of time at the hotel since we arrived so late and only booked one night, but we still managed to enjoy an hour out at the lovely pool before checking out. The sunrise view was spectacular! Oh, and highly recommend dinner at the restaurant. We loved the two black pork dishes we ordered!

Excellent location, excellent recuperation of a XVI Franciscan convent with really nice and very helpful staff. The rooms are very spacious and well kept, the front office impeccable from the reservation over the phone, the check-out. They provided a lot of informations on te surrounding area. The bar and restaurant staff was great and very friendly, light dinner was very good, even he chef came out to ask if all was fine. Breakfast is really good. The indoor and outdoor pool were great (some minor details on the indoor pool need attention) the gym simple but well kept. We really enjoyed our stay and the kindness of the staff. You feel the staff is really proud to work there. We can only recommend it.

The Hotel is a beautifully converted convent with views from the side to the Serra das Estrelas mountains. The interior is tastefully decorated and the rooms are modern spacious quiet with en suite. The bed was comfortable. With an indoor pool and spa sauna & an outdoor pool within a lovely garden. We ate dinner here and whilst not a huge variety on the menu the food was excellent and not expensive The breakfast the following morning was the best we had had after travelling most of the week . We would definitely stay here again and cannot rate it more highly.

Everything, virtually brand new hotel, clean modern facilities, took a room on the 4th floor with mountain view out across the valley, lovely view, excellent facilities in room, staff welcoming and very helpful. Walking distance to other restaurants in the area, one attached to the hotel was good. Excellent breakfast in lovely room in ground floor room with view. Good free WiFi, street parking outside easy. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel is one which has been recently built or renovated next door to a restaurant and the tourist information centre on the way into the centre on a split level site. Our room was located downstairs from the main entrance and was located away from the main road with a view of the valley. There was free parking adjacent to the property. Breakfast was a good continental buffet which included a number of local cheeses, server three floors down in a room with a view of the lower valley. There was a selection of restaurants at various price points within a short distance of the hotel in addition to the more up market one next door (we tried The central for cheaper local food). The tourist information centre next door is worth a visit to get free walking route maps (using the European coloured flash way markers) in various languages distributed by a very helpful gentleman. There are a couple of supermarkets and bakery for picnic food.

Decent hotel with superb view on the mountains! Modern rooms with included bathroom & shower. Kind staff and and a vast breakfast buffet. Parking facilities on the main road in front of the hotel. Next door is a reasonably-priced restaurant with local cuisine. Great starting point to hike and explore the Serra Estrela! Staff followed strictly the Covid-19 regulations.

It was my second time at the abrigo da montanha, this time as a stop off between the Santander ferry and Lisbon. Great location in the mountains, lovely to have the small spa for a bit of relaxation, and the slightly fancier room with the jacuzzi bath. As with my last visit, the best elements were the amazing views of the mountains in Sabugueiro and the staff, all of whom were lovely. We ate really well (hearty mountain food) at dinner, with exceptional wine from Casa da Passarella at really reasonable prices. Breakfast was great, too. I would definitely stay there again, if I were in the area.

Friendly and attentive staff. The entire hotel is clean, in good condition and well maintained. Good location for exploring the rest of Serra de Estrela as it saves you at least an hour’s worth of travel every day compared to towns in the valley. Restaurant has a large enough menu to try something different every evening and all is delicious. On a rainy day I just relaxed in the spa (sauna and small swimming pool)

Stayed for two nights and I was sad to leave. The food was amazing, the staff were amazing (and spoke fantastic English - to make up for my terrible Portuguese) and the room was super comfortable. The swimming pool and saunas were clean and pleasant and I also had a foot treatment which was the best I’ve ever had! For the price I cannot fault it at all. Thank you to all of the staff, especially the two ladies at the front desk that I interacted with and the gentleman in the restaurant, I had a really nice time.

Amazing surroundings around the hotel, with beautiful views from the room as well. The breakfast was delicious, offering plenty of options to choose from—buffet-style on the weekend, while on Monday they took orders for eggs and pancakes. The beds were very comfortable, and we were offered free parking in the garage. The outdoor jacuzzi and indoor saunas were great. The staff at the reception were very welcoming, and the sangria at the hotel bar was delicious.

Excellent service in the restaurant with good breakfast and excellent buffet dinner. Attractive swimming pool of a good size. Friendly and helpful staff - special mention for Mónica in reception and Ricardo (bar/restaurant). Great view from the breakfast-room / restaurant. Nice lobby bar with reasonable prices for a hotel.

Very helpful staff at reception and in the bar & restaurant. The rooms were very comfortable and there was easy onsite parking for our motorbikes. The buffet breakfast was excellent with very varied options. The spa and swimming pools were great, no charge to use the pools (one indoor & one outdoor) or jacuzzi. Great location for interesting motor bike rides.

The breakfast was really good and the dinner is buffet and delicious. The room is comfortable and have a lot of space, is really big. The decoration of the room is quite nice too. The gym and SPA is ok and the pool is huge. Even with a lot of people the pool remains with enough space. The lounge is comfortable and there is live music at evening. Really comfortable and enjoyable

Room was clean, comfortable & very spacious. The view was good and breakfast was a buffet style with range of choices.

The hotel is well connected with the city, there is a bus stop right at the entrance, and it is in close proximity to all city facilities. The ambient and the music are relaxing, and almost everything is covered in wool (even table lamps). There is an exibition at the lobby, I bought a very high quality wool scarf from there. Breakfast was smart, focus on quality rather than quantity. For example, the fresh bread and variety of local cheeses were exceptional, but there was little diversity of the food. The room is quite spacious and modern. The price is very easy on the pocket against the high quality you receive in the hotel.

Everything, especially the À la carte Buffet that is the evening meal. The reception, the room, the bar, the pool, the outside pool, are all excellent. The buffet breakfast is great, lots of choice, something for everyone. And, the evening buffet is great. A wide choice of varied dishes, meat, fish, vegetarian, whatever floats your boat 😊 We have been here before, and we will definitely stay here again 👍
